Why hasn't sir Garry got a gong

Virtual signalling?????
So when you mention that you’re proud to have voted Brexit are you not virtual signalling? Assuming that you still believe it was the correct thing to do.

So if in the 80's when we had to sell Lineker and Smith to survive, would you in a fictitious world have felt the need to feel eternally grateful if Margaret Thatcher had ploughed money in to save us ?

Lineker is a virtual signalling tosser, and a champagne socialist.
If he wants to be a politician fine, but he should give up his lucrative wage with the BBC and stop behaving whilst sitting on millions in the bank that he actually cares about poor people.
Mother Theresa done it for life, Lineker does a couple of weeks for a huge publicity stunt, then closes his doors to continue his privileged lifestyle.
If the BBC paid him off tomorrow and I never had to see his face on TV again I would rejoice.
We all know the BBC shit their pants about him and his cronies holding them to ransom.
The BBC bottled the chance to bring in a fresh face on less than half his salary and someone who did not use the platform to pump out their political opinions
Des Lynam and further back Jimmy Hill just did their jobs without all the bollox that Lineker brings.

Stupid analysis.
I don't get paid millions and then use my noterity to inflict my opinions on the nation.
Just about everyone has an opinion and I wouldn't object to it if Lineker exercised his, but not under the banner of taxpayers money with his highly paid platform with the BBC.

Brexit ? I will never waver on that.

He expresses his opinion on his personal X account, not on any BBC programme. Can you explain how that is doing it ‘under the banner of taxpayers money’?

A late entry for cramming as many force-fed cliches into one post. Bravo.

One mark however lost for not including ‘lefty lawyers’ or ‘wokerati’.

That he’s not a politician is a good thing, given the majority of those currently masquerading as our ‘representatives’.

In employment you still don't have free reign to do anything you like outside of working hours.
People still get sacked for things outside of working hours.

He's the highest paid employee of the BBC and unless you live in a cave, just about everyone has heard of Gary Lineker.
Lineker doesn't express his opinions on MOTD, but it's MOTD that's given him a platform that's kept him a high profile figure for all the years since his footballing retirement. The fact that he creams off taxpayers money whilst still promoting his agenda does not sit well with many people.
As much as I don't agree with Anna Soubry, at least she gave up her TV career to pursue politics. I respect the fact that as a TV presenter I never could tell what her political allegiance was because she didn't use her position to promote her opinions.
I don't want to be funding Linekers lifestyle and opinions.
I don't want to support someone who I completely disagree with.
Would you be happy to line the pocket of Nigel Farage ?

I stand by every word.

Hilarious, the wokes, lefties, socialists are all stirring.🤣
Funny that a bunch of self righteous people can't resist a bite when you don't talk their language.

Lineker is self-employed - he’s not a BBC employee. He’s also a sports presenter - there’s no issue of his private opinions on politics affect his impartiality when commenting on the offside rule, etc.

Anna Soubrey was a news journalist (hence there would have been a question of impartiality) and she was a BBC employee. Completely different cases.

Above you wrote: “Just about everyone has an opinion and I wouldn't object to it if Lineker exercised his.” So in what context would you permit him to have an opinion if you object to him using his personal social media account?

And by the way, Mother Theresa did far more harm than good for humanity.

The problem any of us left of centre might have with GL is we generally agree with his views but were he to peddle the sort of rubbish mugs like brauny do as they parrot media cliches, would we still be so considerate?

I genuinely wouldn’t care less. I actually disagree with him on a lot of things and I find his tendency to adopt very simplistic, binary positions on complex topics irritating. I just don’t get why people get sand in their vagina over a freelance sports presenter expressing his opinion on social media. It’s weird.

He's paid by the BBC which is funded by the taxpayer.
I've already said that it's not what he says on MOTD.
The BBC though purveys to be an icon of neutrality as laughable as that is, so they can't be seen to have loose cannons like Lineker having free reign.
Remember it was the BBC who challenged Lineker about is outspokenness, but bottled it when his cronies stood up for him.

Show me an incident where Soubry expressed her political allegiance whilst still presenting on TV ?
Anyway that logic would apply to all presenters because they all have opinions, just that many of them keep it more private.

Already explained that.
If he joined the world of politics rather than being paid by the taxpayer.

The problem with 'mugs' like you is that you can't accept other people's opinions.
Media cliches ? Wtf !! I don't think Lineker should be funded by us the taxpayers . Is that too hard to understand.
That's nothing to do with media cliches it's a plain cold hard statement/fact.

They don't like it because he gets liberal views over without having them vettted by the right wing media.
If he spouted anti immigrant and anti union stuff you would not hear a whisper.

Brauny, try to have just one original view you have not copied from the right wing, billionaire media.
Your stuff I have read a million times.
