Stadium Expansion

What a time to be a city fan. Could be looking at the east stand completely being demolished and a new 200m stand being built. Capacity around 48,000.

Bringing the rumour out from a couple of years ago. Nowhere near this proposal yet the
land needed is still occupied

Electricity company still trading from there when I came by the ground a couple of weeks ago
There was a statement a few months ago stating that the ground expansion was being put on
hold until things improved . There is no way the ground would be expanded by 50% being
reported on Foxestalk, there is not the demand , unless the away side gets over 5,000 tickets😁

Hope that visit was before lockdown - non-essential 100mile trips and all that...

Yes agreed not heard anything, I’m not sure how fancy than can make it, an extension is an extension surely?

Liverpool started to build their new stand behind the old one to keep the capacity as high as possible during the renovations.

That image looks good for starters – and tallies with what I saw from someone in-the-know back in March. It shows how an existing 'bowl' can instead butt up to a completely new 'side' of a ground. That is almost impossible to do with a trad four-sided ground like Anfield. I vaguely recall Old Trafford being not-dissimilar when they first extended just one side?
It's interesting that the intention is to retain the river-front formal 'face' of the ground, even with such a huge physical presence on the east side – and despite what I'm sure will be a considerable list of facilities in the new side.

All they need now is another year or two of pandemic when they're building it, so I don't have to move seat for any games... ;)

48000 capacity, and one stand that’ll hold more than Filbert Street. And the biggest and most expensive training ground in world football.

unbelievable how far we’ve come in the last 10 years

There is not the demand, unless we give the away side an extra 1800 tckts?
