New manager ?

I doubt either of them would leave their current jobs to join us.
So they were embarrassingly beneath us a few months ago and now they’re in far too good a position to come to us now? It’s a quick leap.

Go find anyone and tell them their salary could be quadrupled by joining a company that is having a blip in performance lately and see how they react.

I don't know who regarded them as embarrassingly beneath us, but it wasn't me.

If we sacked Rodgers tomorrow, we'd struggle to recruit a manager who is already at another club - walking out a few games into a new season would be seen as a huge betrayal, and not all managers would be willing to do that. I don't think Potter would and I'm not convinced Frank would either - irrespective of how much money we offered them.

Realistically, if Rodgers were to leave soon we'd probably end up recruiting somebody currently out of work, eg Dyche or Pochettino - and Pochettino would only come if he was promised a lot of money to spend, which he clearly wouldn't be.

I probably should have not used the reply function there as it was more open to their detractors. Apologies if it came across as directly affronting.

I suppose we’re just guessing on the mentality of all those individuals mentioned above..
There would be no harm in quietly sounding them out to see if there is a potential viable fit.
I don’t know if Potter or Frank are in any way financially motivated just as you don’t know if Poch will only come here if there is bundles to spend.
Not that managers buy players at more in majority of cases, especially at the highest level.

Sure, there's no harm in sounding them out - it's just my personal view that we'd struggle to persuade them at this moment in time. I could be wrong, of course.

Just after my previous post I read that Pochettino is favourite for the Man Utd job when Ten Hag gets the boot, so we'd better move quickly if we want him...;)

Isn't there a premier league rule banning managers moving during the season to another PL club?

(I'm sure they're used to be, and I'm struggling to think of any recent examples)

Edit: after a quick Google I can't find anything, so guess I imagined it.

If that is the case, then doesn't that make Dyche's sacking last season more interesting ?

I think somebody hit the nail on the head with the suggestion of Martinez and wait until the world cup is over.

Poch is out of work so it would be criminal not to approach him.
If the rumours are true that we have money but need to shift players 1st then poch would be given that straight and maybe have to wait for the jan transfer window ( but we have the players already , just set up wrongly)...he likes to play attacking football and we have the players to do that..he'd be back in the Premier...he has contacts around Europe...gets my vote.

And he witnessed first hand exactly what our club is capable of in 2016... can't see him wanting it though tbh.

No. Made Everton much worse over time. Especially defensively. Not even got to a final with Belgiums golden generation.
As confirmed by my long-suffering Everton ST holder mate (the daft bugger goes up to Goodison from The Smoke). For all the increasing clamour from those who want rid of Rodgers I really don't see a viable replacement who'd be prepared to come here and be able to move us further onwards and upwards in our current circumstances.
