LCFC Hall of Fame

If you’ve never won trophies as a club then you’d go loyalty, number of goals scored etc. When you’ve won loads of trophies you can overlook that and loyalty etc can kick in again.
When you’ve only won a few trophies, and those in recent history then it can be difficult to overlook that.

I do not put loyalty ahead of talent. Talent
is supreme gift
I have been lucky and seen many that have that happy knack of being gifted to bring pleasure to a spectator.
When we talk of a Hall of Fame it should be broken into segments like decades
Like our support

Ian Stringer has a tweet going on Twitter that asks what turns out to be a really difficult question. Specifically, if LCFC started a Hall of Fame, who would be the first three inductees?

It’s not as easy as you think, and some of the answers were ridiculous. I eventually decided on:

Gordon Banks - World Cup winner with us.

Jamie Vardy - likely our greatest ever top flight forward.

Gary Lineker - local lad who did great things on and off the field for the club.

But then you think of all the greats you’re leaving out. It will drive you mental!

Fire away Roofers! Name your three.
Inclined to agree with this although some good points raised above.

Edit. Just seen his Tweet, he says coaches, staff, anyone so this changes things completely. Surely Vichai goes to the top?

In the national Football Hall of Fame we have the following with Leicester City connections:

Banks - vast majority of playing career at Leicester
Shilton - played more games for us than anyone else
Lineker - played 57% of his club career with us
McLintock - player, obviously not as manager (!)

As a club, we have had an unusually good record with goalkeepers. Until the present time that is.

For me it comes down to what the player has done for Leicester City in particular. Whether that be winning silverware (or coming close - and I do count winning Division Two), longevity/loyalty, or putting the club on the football map for positive reasons. I want a bit of all three.

Banks, Shilton and Lineker are amongst those with the most "fame" but they all abandoned us in their playing careers. McLintock was famous for what he did elsewhere.

Vardy
Chandler
Rowley

Is this a prelude to naming each stand in the ground? We must be one of the few who’ve never done it. For me it’s Vichai Vardy and Smith

Excuse me Banks didn't fuck off he was sold to make way for up and coming Shilton the boards hands were tied give Shilton his head or let him go Banks was getting towards the end so he was virtually given to Stoke as prices go

I wouldn’t say Banks was at the end of his career. He was just 29 when he left us, and was still the England keeper 3 years later in Mexico. I’d suggest if not for his car accident in 1972 he’d have carried on for a few more years at the top. £50000! Joke. But we were in a unique situation whereby Shilton was always going to be a fantastic keeper. I’m amazed Banks never went to Manure or Liverpool in 67

Apparently Shankly went ballistic when he heard Banks had been sold to Stoke!

Yes fair enough. We treated him shockingly.
He could possibly replace Rowley in my three...

And just to say that Banks never wanted to leave.

Thinking about which would be your three manager selections, and basing that on proper silverware delivered - Premier League title, FA Cup, League Cup, you’re looking at a selection from:

Claudio
Matt Gillies
Martin O’Neill
And yes Brendan Rodgers

You could add Jimmy Bloomfield if you count that Charity Shield win.

The FA Cup win for all of us means more than Matt’s League Cup win in the 60s, and even though we had a great team in the early and mid sixties, I think if limited to three it would have to be Brendan instead of Matt.

Apologies ... I feel a little queasy.
