3rd January 83 in the same day did Leicester v Chelsea 3-0, Wolves v Leeds 3-0 and Port Vale v York 2-1. Seem to remember from last time this kind of thing came up that somebody on here had done the same three that day?
You did well to get to Port Vale unscathed. Wolves v Leeds must have been a right battle before and after the game.

Completed The 92 (member 214) in 1983.

Watched my first LCFC game in 1961
Had a season ticket since 1962
Started going to all away games in 1970
Realised in early 1980's I was close to the 92 with just following LCFC
Currently I have been to in excess of 150 football league grounds in England
I am currently 9 grounds away from todays 92.

On 3rd January 1983 I watched 3 football league games on the same day

Leicester City v Chelsea 3-0 1100 kick off
Wigan Athletic v Huddersfield Town at Springfield Park 2-0 1530 kick off
Halifax Town v Torquay United 3-0 1945 kick off.

You did well to get to Wigan in a couple of hours, I guess that was back in the day of being able to put your foot down on the motorways with few traffic police and no cameras.

No bother at Wolves that I remember but seem to remember plenty at the Chelsea game. Think it was that game when a Chelsea lad was waving a chain above his head in the enclosure on the side to the left of the kop. Strange to think it was all just get a ticket on the day back then and stand/sit with your mates.

Yes, and no parking restrictions at Filbert Street

Yes, piece of piss it used to be in the 90s.
I had a cut-off time of 12.30pm for whether I was going to a home game in those days from Balham in south London:

Jump in the old jalopy,
45 mins through central London to the M1
Hour and 5 mins to J21
Avoid the queue at the lights on Narborough Road
Always find a space in that triangle of streets next to the Turnstile
Quick bottle of Becks (never trusted the draught stuff)
Stroll down past the east stand, pay on the gate, and into Pen 1 in time for the teams running out

Never missed a kick off.
No Masters in Military Planning required.

Oh to be back in those simpler, more exciting times...

For anyone still interested, my mate completed the 92 at Swansea last Wednesday.
Took him 251 days, although the record is 189. Having to go on holiday with his wife for a fortnight in October scuppered his chance of beating that.
He travelled to 98 games, losing 6 to late cancellations and train delays.
Is keeping schtum on the £s in case his wife reads his emails.
Wanted me to convey his thanks to he-who-knows-he-helped re Luton on here.

You’re welcome Filbo.

I’ve mentioned this to loads of people and all are super impressed. 189 days is mental. 251 is still very impressive.
