Thatched roofer
A friend was feeling a bit bored in the summer, and decided to spend this season watching at least one game at every one of the 92 league grounds. I sorted him out for us v Cov, which was his third game of the season. He's also seen us at Burton and Southampton. Noticing some other threads on this rare visit here, I won't share his opinion on style of play, etc...
He's currently on 77, but has found that both Luton and Wrexham have turned somewhat 'billy big bollocks' and are refusing to provide any assistance to him getting a ticket for one of their remaining games.
I reckon he deserves to complete the task, and also that his wife's patience deserves reward too. So I wanted to respectfully enquire whether any Roofers have any reliable connections that could help procure a ticket for either of these two underwhelming clubs. Subject to the rest of his schedule, pretty much any game will do, as far as I know. He's not a caaant, although he does support Spurtz.
It'll be much appreciated if anyone can help, thanks.

It is a poor do when it is not possible for a fan like this to get a ticket for Wrexham ffs. I can understand Luton given they are in the Prem but Wrexham.
I have had the same problem getting a ticket for our away games, where I sit with the oppo and keep quiet. I got tickets for Boro, Sheffield Wed, C*v and Stoke, but no chance for Leeds unless you pay £60 odd quid to become a member. MFIR.

l can give you a postal address for the Luton catchment area if that helps, my daughter lives in Harpenden plus a mate of mine (city season ticket holder) also live round the corner from her.

Cheers mate.
But he tells me the minimum requirement with Luton is to be a member with a prior purchase history, so he fears he's down to finding a regular fan who can't go for some reason...

Agreed. Even with Luton, it wreaks of very short memories. I'm not 100% sure he's necessarily quite as creative and persuasive as some of us might be when faced with a similar challenge, but I think it's piss-poor for those clubs not to recognise an impressive attempt at an impressive target. I reckon it's going to cost him about £20-30k, so to miss out because of two poxy clubs would be a real shame.
Shame Jimmy Saville's not around to fix it for him... ;)

I’d suggest that he seeks out their local football forums and puts his predicament to them in the hope that he comes across a Clapham rather than a Soho. 👀😬

Yes, that's worked well for him for the popular games that he hasn't had friends to help him (y)

Maybe he’s best to try and knock off some of the other 13 grounds he’s missing because the interest levels in the two mentioned might well be a bit different in the future. Esp Luton if they go down.
Alternatively try and get in the away end as surely not every club that goes to these grounds are that well supported?

The allocation for away fans at Luton is minuscule, and while they are in the Premiership, not a cat in hell’s chance of getting a ticket in there.

I think he wants to do them ALL THIS season

He’s done 77 already?????
Is he driving and kipping in the car?
I think he's at Sheffield United today, and so will almost certainly be fitting in a couple of other grounds whilst he's up north (he lives near me). I know he got the last bus home from Brighton, after the last train from Southampton, after our night game there, which got him through his front door at about 1am.
But no, he's a public transport man, so Premier Inn are doing well from him! :)

Wints is right.
He's got quite an understanding wife, although she apparently politely declined the offer to accompany him.

It's proved surprising how even some lower league clubs like making it difficult to get tickets, especially away tickets. He understandably has been trying to avoid having to shell out for memberships and hospitality, etc, but not every club has been exactly helpful when he's contacted them.
I suspect he'll end up trying what Geldof did with Band-Aid, tell everyone that everyone else has helped him, and try and shame them into pulling their fingers out. That's why I'm disappointed that it's the likes of Luton and Wrexham who've let their 5 minutes of fame go to their heads.

That’s a great effort. One I would have questioned if even possible.

Your friend should contact the club where he does his 92nd game and see if he can get a mention in the programme.

I think in the old days of 3PM Saturday kick offs as the norm there would have been no chance, but with matches every bucking day of the week I can imagine with a bit of careful planning you could do it now. Amazing achievement. I was always in awe of the 92 club members you occasionally met on trains to away games (a blue sweater with a badge of a football and a number 92 as I remember). Those guys were nuts. Met one who was doing the Swedish 2nd division grounds, some of which were just park pitches.

If I had a cap I’d doff it. We’ve had a mare of a season with public transport so how he’s not had a meltdown is beyond me.

Not bad in 50 years imo!
Do you have to keep topping up when new sides Come into the league or clubs move home?
Slowly but surely, been to Forest Green & Harrogate this season & Sutton & Stevenage last season. It helps that we have had Friday/Monday night kick offs which leaves the occasional Saturday free. All the clubs I've not yet been to are in the bottom 2 divisions.

Currently at 69 of current 92 and have been to 98 in total. Think that’s an ok effort for someone clinging onto their 30s. Has slowed down a bit with lack of change in opposition for a decade ish. 20/20 Prem, 21/24 Champs, 14/24 L1 and 14/24 L2.

I did 3 games and 5 grounds in 36 hours in Germany a few seasons back.

Saturday morning flight to Frankfurt.
Wiesbaden v 1860 Munich
Mainz old stadium for a look. We got inside to get some pictures.
Mainz v Gladbach
Past Frankfurt’s ground three times that day.
A mate drove to Kaiserslautern v Carl Zeiss Jena on Sunday then dropped me back at the airport for my flight back to London.

That was pretty crazy.

3rd January 83 in the same day did Leicester v Chelsea 3-0, Wolves v Leeds 3-0 and Port Vale v York 2-1. Seem to remember from last time this kind of thing came up that somebody on here had done the same three that day?
