Not sure if its been mentioned before, but heres the problem.

The electricity building is a listed building and can't be touched. This building was originally built as a railway turntable, so as that history. They can build around it or over it and they are looking at it as an indoor event venue now as its very big. They don't have planning permission yet so they have to sort this out.

Tell you about Rodgers later !

I heard the council don’t want a gig arena type venue as it’ll take focus away from De Montfort Hall. How true that is I have no idea but I can believe it.

Tricky as a gig arena because it won't attract the big acts.
Nottingham Motorpoint is pretty rubbish but can accommodate 10000 so would still be preferred venue unfortunately. Tours often have to leave some kit out of Nottingham gig builds because of space constraints.

Seems strange that nobody knew it was a listed building. Why would you pay for plans and then put in for planning permission and why didn’t the planning department reject it straight away. Seems it’s still going through planning as well.

I would be suing the planning consultant !

I had to go down the ground this morning and was talking to someone l know there.

Fukcing typical for Leicester. A useless building that no one knew about or cared for and now best thing they could do for the city is delayed…inevitably. Probably will happen but not as good as it could have been.

Alternatively a convenient spanner in the works now that the charismatic manager and playing style has performed a natural cull on the home game attendances

I doubt that this is true as the railway was on the other side of the canal and a turntable was on the north side of the main station.

It could only have been a shed it's not big enough for a turntable. It might have been part of the coal distribution rail system for the power station.

MK Dons have an indoor area and fill it with major events all the time. Formula 1 shows, live music, world pool championships…the list goes on and they make a killing from it.

It's not down on historic england as a listed building and they seemingly have every one in Leicester

Never knew about this as the Power Station was the other side of the canal thought the cooling towers took up most of the land and the LNER railway sheds opposite to the side of the Sheds was the old LMS line to Melton.
Thought it used pulverised coal from the gasworks on Aylestone Road never saw any rail work there so when the place was nationalised after war God alone knows what went on there

Regarding what l said after the Norwich game when l mentioned Top having a face like thunder at half time and at the final whistle. Apparently he was very very angry about the empty seats, we all know why they were empty but he also held an emergency meeting with the sales staff on the Monday and laid into them. I'm guessing something got mentioned at half time from upstairs. Funny how the second half went with Rodgers not once getting out of his seat and for the first time for ages no subs in the second half.

He didn't look happy at half time today either actually. I don't know if many stayed around for the lap of "honour" but it obviously is important to the owners !

Another point regarding Rodgers, we all expected to see some young uns at least on the bench which was a surprise to plenty that there wasn't any. Braybrooke was told he would be starting todays game, but wasn't even on the bench. With Chelsea and Liverpool trying to get him, l don't think its a good thing making promises and not keeping them !

It was the Great Central the other side of the canal actually, l had no idea it was once a railway turntable either.

there's a chance that it wasn't exactly right then, but who told me does know what's going on and he had personally spoke to the council about so he told me. I will see him Monday or Tuesday, I'll ask about it again.

Loads stayed afterwards.
He played Ward because he’d promised to and said you had to keep your promises. Who said Braybrooke would be starting? We clearly wanted to get 8th so why would he risk that by playing a kid from the start?

The only roundhouse in Leicester was on the Midland, as far as I'm aware
Just below Swain Street bridge was a big old railway turntable back in the late 60s early 70s, We used to slide down the rally banks on Maidstone Rd and get down to the train tracks…

Will be interesting to hear what he says as whenever you do a search on a development one of the first things you’d check for would be a listed building. Planners would also have knocked it straight back due to the the listed building, how long is it since we applied? Over a year?

l remember that, doesn't seem to be as large as that was. There was one in Wigston as well which also wasn't as big as the London road one. I had a good look at it today and it is a big building.

Surely if the Electricity board converted the building into offices then the council cannot demand a listed building status. Once relaxed you cannot re-apply rectospectively.

This isn’t true. The demolition will happen soon.
