Billy's Boots....what were yours?

Had a pair of imitation white "Alan Ball" boots from Freeman-Hardy-Willis.

Progressed to Patrick in my heyday.

I Think they were Hummel?
White boots definitely frowned upon back then, plenty of abuse given to the odd flash winger that wore them.

Honest I've not!
😂
Think Alan Ball was the first player to wear them.
Anyone remember " Stylo Matchmakers" never had a pair though

A pair of Stylo(!) boots, moulded studs. Would have taken any other boot as long as it had screw ins, moulded didn't feel right (which given the way boot technology has gone makes me smile). Felt embarrassed being the only kid in the team without "proper" boots. Later on was always Umbro. Loved every pair I ever had.

Yes, also never had a pair.

Woolworths did a pair under their own brand called Winfield, red studs.
Most of our school team had them.

Just Woollies home brand I think. When I started playing on Saturdays we were sponsored by my mates dad's Sports Shop, Tech-nic Sports on Queens Road. One of the sales reps gave him a pair of Nike boots that Ian Wilson didnt like. They were passed to me as they didnt fit my mate, and they were the first proper boots that i had.

Golas, then I bought Puma Teams, from my auntie Joans club book. Paid for them by flogging my free school diner tickets.

Does anyone remember a white boot, worn by I think Alan Hinton & Alan Ball?
Strange stud set up at the front?

Not touched a drop yet, honest!
These??

Winfield from Woolworths

A pair of very old fashioned boots, called I think Top Dog. Looked like they were designed in the 1930s. Then a pair of Gola, moulded soles, as soon as I could persuade Dad to buy me a new pair

Winfield adidas knockoffs from Woolworths.
Somehow they lasted through 5 years of 3 game weekends in my teens when actual Adidas and Puma's fell to bits.
After every game, shook off the mud, took out the laces and washed them separately, cleaned them in the sink, dried them on the central heating boiler, polished them, and dubbin'd them once a month.
Honorable mention for Patrick (various models inc Keegan) which were my fave boots but cost 5 times the Winfield's.

God knows where he got them from but my Dad got me my first pair of boots when I was about 7 - proper Stan Matthews type with a round hard toe and six layered leather (I think) studs fixed with three small nails! I soon persuaded (pestered) me Mum to buy me a pair of ‘Shooting Stars’ from Timsons - much more modern with a moulded sole. My first ‘Screw-ins’ was a pair branded Pony from Sports and Leather Store in Kettering - Pony by name, Pony by nature☹️.
My faves when I played regular on a Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning was a pair of Mitres with a moulded sole - they lasted for years without me cleaning them once (I’m a lazy fucker). Great days playing amateur footie😀

My 1st pair were from Paddys swag store on Charnwood Road and they had nailed on leather studs. I was so proud a few years later when I got my first pair with screw in studs and a special; spanner to change them
