An irregular heartbeat

I know at least 5 people who have this problem, they have tried all sorts of tricks like stopping the heart and restarting it but nothing seems to work. Apparently you are more prone to have a stroke.

Nor will rat poison, is the point I was making. If you need to keep your blood thin, grapefruit and cranberry are very good, spinach and greens are bad. Not that hard to understand was it, you pedantic twat..
It's not rat poison. The same drug is used in a different dose to thin the blood. Stop giving dangerous quack advice.

I must have been on Warfarin for several years now after being diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation, my Warfarin levels stayed very level and I only had to go to Glenfield about every 3 months for checks, sometimes it is every 7 days for a start.
I had heard about the new Anti Coagulants available so i asked to go on one of those and they put me on Apixaban.
Touch wood all is OK at the moment.
Having said that, the docs have put me on Statins now, not because of high cholesterol but my points adding up to say Statins were my best option.
FWIW I used to have grapefruit segments every saturday and Sunday but I have now knocked those on the head.
So to the original poster you can see after reading all these posts you have much to look forward to.

I was diagnosed with AFIB in March ‘22. In the US the preferred treatment is surgery, so I had what they call an ablation, where they go in and rewire the four chambers of your heart, in July ‘22.

The surgery is a lot more straightforward than it sounds, I was home the same day and suffered no pain the day after.

A year later and the surgery has been deemed a success, I’m on no heart meds whatsoever, and my heart is in a normal rhythm.

Bottom line Gerry, don’t panic, it’s treatable. And if they offer surgery as an option, seriously consider it.

My mum a decent life with AFIB even though the restarting of the heart was not a success in 2010, alas she was diagnosed with alzhimers in 2019 and died in 2022

Thats great news, Gerry - because I had forgotten what the Irish word for"caant" was. (For the purposes of the Roof obit). 😉😉😉
