An irregular heartbeat

My dad had one in 96/97 and if i remember correctly he had to take Warfarin - used in rat poison i believe. A couple of years later he started pissing blood and died 6 months later aged 63.
Get well soon Gerry

Don’t take rat poison, change your diet, cranberries and grapefruit juice and lay off the spinach and greens. Drink water.

Any bucker have one
Seems I have
Am being kept in hospital overnight
Mum did, Warfarin then she went in the hospital and had her heart stopped and re-started but it didn't work. She was on warfarin then for the rest of her life. She lived for 8 more years

Thanks for that
Now have a buckin guess what age I am

Warfarin is used must less commonly than in past years. I was on it for a while seven years ago after having a stent. When I had another stent fitted last year I was prescribed a different anti-coagulant and am still on them.

I had both fitted at Glenfield which is a specialistist heart hospital so it's interesting that they have changed their approach - I would question the Doctor who has prescribed Warfarin so that you fully understand his thoughts. Is he fully up to date on current thinking?

I'm told the great man has a very bad chest infection and will be in there till next monday on a trolley apparently owing to the bed shortage although personally I think it may be purely for ease of transferring him from ward to ward as the nurses joke tolerance levels diminish.

Yes I've got it, been taking Rivaoxaban for a number of years. This is a blood thinning tablet so if you cut yourself make sure you don't lose too much blood.
The doctor (if you are lucky enough to actually get to see him) will tell you to lose weight, get plenty of exercise, give up alcohol, chips, cheese, pies & several other things. In fact he'll advise you not to do anything that makes life a pleasure so you may feel you are better off dead anyway!
