A nasty rumour....

When we're staring down the barrel again in March he's the man.

Seriously, Potter? Right oh. We're skint. The rats are leaving the ship and there's no-one left. He's got far bigger fish to put in his sandwich.
We are not skint, once the high earners contracts expires and we sell contracted players for a decent fee we will be ok

Which fish are those?
If nobody in the PL is looking for a manager now why would he want to take a job in November with a failing team and only one transfer window.
I’m not a huge fan but if the rumours are true that we’ll let him bring in his own team and pick a DoF then I could probably live with that. The club needs fixing and he may be the only way that happens.

Just how many players do you think we’ll let go or would be wanted by PL
teams?
I think you're being hard on our contracted players, we haven't got crap players, we got talented players short of confidence cause they've had a incompetent coach or who's had some fall out with certain individuals.

With the players he wants
Yes I’d worked that out, didn’t change the fact you only mentioned about seven of our current 25. Seven are out of contract plus Maddison will leave, what about the other ten? We won’t be losing all three strikers for example.

I want scrappers and grafters for the shirt in the Championship. I'm fed up people saying we should've finished fourth and got in Champions League, people weren't happy we finished 8th last season, I would've given up the FA up win just to stay a mediocre Premier league side.

Nobody remembers a mediocre Premier League side, if they’ve won an EPL title and FA Cup in the last seven years then they’ll never be forgotten.

I reckon we have two options...

Either a "usual suspect" Dyche, Warnock, Mowbray, Pearson, type with a mission to get out of the division first time with loanees etc but would need to start again in the Prem.

or young up and coming manager who buys into the project and LT vision of the job.

I think its obvious which one but the candidate needs to be available now rather than currently with a club and wanting to go and toast his bollocks for the next month.

Will probably end up with someone who is neither e.g. Smith.

And how quickly will a new manager be able to turn the negativity around?

Whoever we play we need to win the first game. Lose that and god help us.

It won’t be easy especially after our Far Eastern jolly.

Say what you will about Pearson but he was very good at that.

I remember it took him a long time though when he came in 2nd time. He talked about it afterwards that they inherited a good team "on paper" but it was just that - good on paper! It took 2 1/2 years to get that team rebuilt and promoted.

That said, it might be a blessing in disguise that so many players are leaving - there is a chance of purging all that negativity and starting a successful rebuilt almost from scratch. With a bit of luck the situation is perhaps more comparable to 2008 in League 2, from which we never looked back! We do need to get a few appointments right though, first and foremost the new manager!
