Who likes people being cancelled?

I've been reading for months now a couple of people being told to "shut up" after every post they make.

As this instruction comes from those against "cancelling", can you explain the difference?

A group of like minded people, piling on to try and shut down differing opinions, is not a big leap to cancel culture, no?

But if you want to think this is 'cancelling', you're totally free to say so on here. No one's going to ban you.

But the OP was silly too. Itā€™s not that there isnā€™t a serious issue about - oh, go on then, ā€œglobal cancellationā€ - but if you want to start a discussion about it, or even just express an opinion, you could put in a little more effort to explain what you mean.
