The optimistic pessimist
Usually nearly 24 hours after a shit show I've calmed down enough to allow a bit more logic to filter through.
Not this time, I'm personally seething at yesterday's shambles.
You can point to 2 or 3 big opportunities squandered, but it wasn't that for me it was our whole approach to the game.
Within the first 15 mins we had conceded about 8 (4 on target) attempts on goal against 2 (0 on target) of our own.
This wasn't the first time we have allowed an opponent to take a strong foothold in the game. We rarely go and show why we are at the top end of the table. Why can't they start in an aggressive fashion and put down a marker that's saying to an opponent ' you boys ain't gonna live with us '
My initial thoughts are that there is a lack of tempo from us from the start and we allow teams to find their feet far too easily.
That 1st half was absolutely rubbish from a team at the top end.
We didn't have hardly any great control of the game, our lack of pace one again in defence exposed us to conceding some dangerous moments and potential penalties.
By half time it needed a Jock Wallace style little chat and an immediate and visible reaction to another poor first half. What we got was the latest addition to the Carry on films........Carry on being lethargic.
15 mins into the 2nd half, no changes to the tactics, formation or personal, just carry on.
The head honcho declared afterwards about being pleased with the numerous chances we had created, he was less vocal about the fact that statistically the opponent created more.
The Bristol manager didn't rest on his laurels, with numerous new additions introduced, whilst our Messiah just arrogantly thought that nothing was wrong and our walking football would prevail.
Then the inevitable concession, even if you argued they didn't deserve it, the way things are going for us it wasn't anything you didn't expect.
The pundits pointed out we had £90M sitting on the bench but it still took mastermind until the 75th minute to react.
After that ? Nothing really, no big reaction, no Alamo, just a feeble and disappointing end to a crucial game at a crucial time of the season.
No wonder the fans gave it them big time, had I have been there I would have joined the chorus of disapproval.
So on to Monday and Norwich.
Quite frankly I have no faith that the rot stops here.
This brand of football is not going to win the fans back, they'll only do that by having a right good go ( no walking football)
Only if they walk off the pitch with the fans knowing they gave it absolutely everything, will they escape the full wrath of the fans.
I can't see it happening though, this boss thinks he's something special, he's to stubborn and mardy to accept things ain't right and to change it.
