Snivelling Arab

I agree to an extent but they’re all the bloody same. Let’s say we’d have survived last season and said to Maddison you’re staying. I suspect he’d have had a tantrum. Tielemans refusal to sign a new contract could be taken as petulant. Same as Maddison. No different IMO. It’s all about the player nowadays. There’s not a jot of loyalty as we know
Maddison, I have no issues with he did what he was contracted to do, I believe Tellytubby was doing his best even if it was woefully inadequate and he completed his contract.
Nothing to do with loyalty, just being a decent human being who honours his contract

Most of us on here are old gits who remember the old days with rose tinted glasses. As Hackney has said Weller has a suspect temperament but that doesn’t mean I despise the guy. That one moment where he refused to come out for the 2nd half is far outweighed by some of the stuff I witnessed in his 7 years with us.
What I will say about Mahrez is that he has THE biggest joker in his back pocket over pretty much anyone who has played for our beloved club in its 139 year history. He played a MAJOR part in us winning the league. He can IMO sulk as much as he likes but what I do know is without him we wouldn’t have won it. End of. He stayed with us for 5 years, was one of the best footballers I’ve ever seen at our club ( I’ve never seen anyone trap a 60 yd pass like him) and it gave us a £60m profit. Bloody win win win.

At the end of the day we’ve provided many players at great financial reward from the ‘big’ clubs. It’s what it is. West Ham lost Rice, Villa lost Grealish. It’s what it is
Hear Hear to all that LG! I've said it before but for me he's the most talented player I've ever seen in a City shirt (and as an old-ish git I've seen plenty). I had the great good fortune to see him close up caressing the ball stone dead at his feet from the long passes you describe. Almost worth the admission fee alone, let alone all his assists and goals. He might be a twat but he's a sublimely gifted footballer.

And a man with absolutely no honour. Speaking for myself I’d rather have an honourable talentless man than an obnoxious genius.

In that glorious season, we had 3 players who played at a genuinely world class level, and he was one of those, alongside Vardy and Kante. They had played a grand total of 3 seasons of top tier football between them up to that point. It was astounding that they came together at the same middle ranking English club. The rest is history, and will NEVER be repeated.

and Huth.

The psychology of this debate is fascinating. There are players who no-one disputes are "loyal" and might be then seen to have overstayed their welcome (e.g. Albrighton). There are players that want to use us as a stepping-stone but will have provided plenty of good service whilst here (Mahrez, Maddioson). There are those that fulfil their contractual obligations (Tielemans) but have cost us loads by preventing us getting a fee. Others who sign new contracts, enable the City to get huge fees (Fofana) and are seen as disloyal mercenaries.
It's a quid pro quo arrangement. They are professionals. If the club don't want them or aren't good enough, sod their contracts, they will be sold. If we aren't big enough for them, they'll leave. It's business. Personality seems to play a part, Kante seemed humble and supremely good, and few begrudged his move. Mahrez was/is supremely talented, and wonderful, mercurial player who contributed as much to winning the Premier League as Kante, but is apparently loathed because of his attempts to force a transfer. and his subsequent comments.
Vardy, on the other hand, is considered loyal, the best City signing ever, record breaker, turned down a "big move", but plenty on here want him sent to pasture because he's lost his edge. Loyalty works in mysterious ways.
I'll take four years of mardy Mahrez over 10 years of Andy King any day.

Great player who (I'm using @LGFOX's words from a while back to some extent here) amassed a tremendous amount of credit in the book of most or probably all of LCFC's fans. Which he then set out to gradually use up and turn into debt with his destructive antics, airport shenanigans, refusal to train / play and condescending interviews after he left.

As of late, the wounds have probably healed a bit and he's been a bit more complimentary about LCFC I think. That, and the likely waning of the memories of his bad behaviour are probably the reasons why the mood in this thread seems to be a bit more forgiving than it was maybe one or two years ago.

My personal "Mahrez balance sheet" is also a bit more "in credit" these days. The further the hindsight regarding 2016, and (sadly) with another relegation in the bag, it's even easier to look upon 2016 as an absolutely fantastic period for LCFC, and there's no doubt he's played a massive part in that!

(Edited for spelling "bag" correctly)

Well if the end result justifies the means then who cares who gets shit on.

I have to say my principles don’t allow me to turn a blind eye to being lied to, no matter what the rewards

But not forgive him for insulting our club and our fans

You fuckers will be telling me Ant and Dec are OK next

BBC is now reporting the £30m deal with Al-Ahli is done, and Mahrez is NOT sitting in the airport lounge with all the other Man City players for their pre-season trip to Japan and South Korea.
