What causes tides and why is there 2 a day

The moon, i think. The moon's got magical energy man.

That magical energy of the moon causes Amphidromic points, or places where there is no tide at all.
Distance from these points, create larger high and low tides.
If the earth were flat, these points would lead to high and low tides in locations related to that point, at the same time.
However, with a globe and rotating earth, the tidal bulges happen sequentially.
