So is there anything that you would admit to getting horribly wrong about football?
I’ll give you an example. During the 82-83 season, I remember, on a long trek home with the London Branch, getting into a debate about Gary Lineker.
I took the position that he would never be good enough to play for England because the only real asset he had was speed. I liked Lineker as a player, I just genuinely didn’t think he was good enough.
As the saying goes, I was on the wrong side of history.
Anyone else care to admit when they got something so badly wrong?
