Chelsea Match Thread

It's all to do with them misting disinfectant on the pitch because of Covid. All clubs have had them installed

i've seen this mentioned a couple of times....is it a fact? it sounds as silly as disinfecting the ball, then watching the players share their water bottles, and grapple at corners etc etc.

As Lili Von Shtupp once said "It' trew it's trew"

Weather radar suggests that most of the morning rain has passed well north of the city, looks like we should get a fair soaking this afternoon though.

Team for tonight....
Kasper
Justin
Fofana
Evans
Soyuncu
Castagne
Ndidi
Tielemans
Maddison
Barnes
Vardy
Up the City... 💙

BBC Weather showing just a 35% chance of light rain right through.
That said, it showed dry here this morning – but I got foookin soaked walking the dogs...💦

Best line-up we could put out. I like the 3 at the back, hopefully Justin will turn Chilwell inside-out. Get Barnes over that side as well.
Chilwell will turn Chilwell inside out.

Not sure I'd want to try and revert back to a formation we haven't regularly played whilst being on this run. Plus Cags potentially have to play a full game 2-3 days after only just making a start. If we started with a 4 with him then at least he could be subbed. Reverting back with personnel that haven't played together against a striker with blistering pace and our back 3 trying to play the offside trap out of sync would be horrific.

Stick with the 11 that started against Saints. The only change I'd want depending on the score is to switch Albrighton from that team at some point as both FBs for Chelsea have pace and Albrighton will resort to not taking his man on and technically speaking - just wang it in the box as he does the minute he touches in to Vardy with 4 defenders on him.

Talk Shite now saying Frankie boy could be sacked if Chelsea lose tonight, come on City, you know what to do....

Apart from Chilwell turning Chillwell inside out, that's pretty much how I see it too. We have just begun to get to grips with defending set pieces. Let's continue the improvement. If it ain't broke........

Also, 3 at the back means we have to sacrifice a midfielder further up the pitch in order to allow 2 defenders to share that m/f job half-and-half. Why? I may agree if goals were a problem and/or we were playing a side whose m/f isn't going to boss us, but it would make us less compact and more open to direct access onto Wilf + the centre backs.

Albrighton has done well in the recent run, but to my mind comes up short at both ends of the pitch. You call his lack of pace in an attacking sense which restricts his crossing angles, but defensively too, he is mostly ineffectual and like an over-whipped racehorse by the time he arrives in our 1st third. That's why he gives away so many free kicks in that area. The lad has been brilliant for us since his flash of good sense in leaving the Villa, and there may still be role for him if only from the bench. Taking into consideration the opposition left (wing)back, I would give tonight's shirt to Ayo Perez.

Anyway, knowing as I do that BR constantly scours these boards waiting to see what I think so he can do exactly the opposite, be prepared for Albrighton & 3 at the back.

BLUE ARMY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need albrighton there especially if Chilwell and Pulisic are playing that side. His defensive work will be invaluable.

Lauro predicts a Chelsea win.
"The Blues were in poor form before that game but I always thought they were capable of going on a good run, like they did at the start of the season.

Having watched them, I am not so sure, but I do fancy them here. Weaker teams than them, like West Ham, Aston Villa and Fulham, have all gone to King Power Stadium and won in the league this season, and I'm backing Chelsea to do the same".
Twat!

This ‘ere guy Choudary is he a new signing Knew we had Hamza Choudhury but don’t recognise this bloke😁

Why was second goal not overruled by VAR for Vardy challenging for aerial ball coming back from offside position?
