The Birch scored his infamous screamer from 35 yds. Can remember this match like it was yesterday being in the Kop that day They were unbeaten and stayed unbeaten until February. This was the closest Leeds got to losing and if the ref, as he shouldn’t have, had made them take the free kick agsin, we may well have won. Anyone else there?

I was there. I think I was in the 'Popular Side' later to become the East Stand. I remember the quick free kick by Leeds leading to their goal. Leicester tried it the following week, only for the ref to pull it back. Still hate Leeds, not as much as co*, but it's close! ;)

Yes, I was on the wall right side of the Main Stand, as usual. I recall the Leicester crowd were really pissed off by Leeds' behaviour.

Also - does anyone remember before the advertising boards were put in, the boys (and some girls!) on the wall had to sit facing the crowd and turn around to see the game? It was supposedly to protect our delicate, spindly legs in case some beefy player like the Tank came crashing down upon us, or the ball was kicked hard against our poor lower limbs...

I was going to write that I was in the Kop, but I wasnt. The Kop was so full we sat over the wall on the cinder area and the wooden boards that covered up the pit where the bubble was kept.

In the Kop. We were class. Leeds were dirty cheating scum. Any advantage they could gain, and anyhow, was all that mattered to them. Their fans were awful as well.

the stewards told us while telling us to put our feet on the other side of the wall that it was, if the ball hit our legs it could break them.

Always sat on the wall with legs pitchbound in pen 4 when I first started going until it was stopped.

I was in the popular side .. block nearest the filbert street end, with a couple of lads from school.

Remember that game more than some from three or four years ago. 50 bloody years!

How about on this day 56 years ago, the great Peter Shilton scored against Southampton. Was anybody at that one?

(For the record, I was not!).

Didn't start regular away games until 1970.

Then in the next 50 years missed no more than 10m away games in total.
