Who will leave if we’re relegated?

LGFOX

Roofer
100%. - Tielemans Söyüncü and Maddison Tete

Probably due to being out of contract - Mendy Evans

Probably others - I reckon Harvey will go. Someone will bid £30m and he’ll be off. I also think Faes could go and more than likely Kristiansen too.

Possible - Someone will probably put in stupid bids for Praet, Nacho and JJ. Upto the club whether they accept. Wilf could go too along with Soumare. I also think they’ll probably bin Ward

So we’ll be left with Vardy Daka, KDH, Iverson, Ricky Castagne Souttar, Thomas and the kids.

We’re probably going to have to start again. But Burnley lost a ton of players for this season but have done ok. Also we’re not down yet.

Any thoughts?

We should get over £100 million in transfers. Madders Barnes Ian £100 million. All depends on their contracts, we may have to sell. Need a rebuild and a half.

Nailed on relegation.

Most will leave but won’t get the values hoped for.
Confidence plays a huge part in player’s’ performance and apparent ability. The Brendan Rodgers systematic stripping of players confidence makes it look like even the best of our bunch have turned to shit.
Other clubs and scouts, along with the rest of the ‘outside world’ will not recognise the Rodgers effect as the revered coach that he is, and just note that formerly impressive players are just ‘not as good as they used to be’.
Please don’t underestimate the horrific damage done to our clubs long term wellbeing. It is properly fucked.

And there are people on here that still make reference to Peter Taylor. FFS

Be lucky to get anywhere close to that. We have zero bargaining power.

Players will want to go, maddison in final year of contract, championship TV income, wage bill reduction necessary....we'll be desperate and buying clubs will know it.
Can't see anyone offering more than £10m for nacho. Barnes might get £25m. Maddison fee well sting...£35m?

Castagne will go

Faes and Kristiansen haven't yet proved themselves in the PL, reckon they may stop in the hope we come straight back up.

Some clubs seem to screw top dollar out of buyers for their players after they get relegated, but you just know we'll give ours away

Some of the players still on contracts probably have a trapdoor clause, so don't just assume the out of contract players will leave.
I still laugh at Stearman when i see him playing for some noname team after he dumped us for the sleeping giant of Wolves when we got relegated to L1.
F#$% em if they want to leave.

Stearman made over 200 appearances for Wolves, including three years in the Premier League.

He's now back in League 1 but he didn't do too badly leaving us. Who knows whether he'd still have been with us when we finally got promoted to the Premier League in 2014.

Yes, but what did he win going to a big club? two promotions over 5 years? And he was totally out of his depth in the PL if you watched him play. another one who thought he was too good for us, like joe mattock.

I was merely trying to make the point that his career, unlike in fact Joe Mattock's, went ok-ish.

Joe Mattock hasn't managed a single PL appearance and alienated quite a few people when leaving in 2009, just after promotion if I remember correctly. He got released from Rotherham in 2022.

Stearman left when we got relegated which perhaps wasn't great but at least understandable. And he got a reasonable career out of it and is still playing at 35.

i see your point, i just don't agree with it.
King stayed with us and won the PL, Stearman left and won nowt.

That's fine by me. I'm not particularly emotional about Richard Stearman or Joe Mattock but I would add that Andy King with his 14 years at the same club is now a rare breed, not just at Leicester City but in football in general.

Most footballers these days are journeymen, more or less. They do a job. Only a few get the opportunity to stay at their boyhood club, and many players face regular decisions over contracts and clubs that are sometimes gambles over the period of the next two or three years. A new manager, an unexpected relegation, a bad injury - and everything may look different! I think it's often very unpredictable for them so I try to give them some leeway as long as they don't behave like pricks, such as Joe Mattock!

I try not to begrudge players when they leave unless there are specific circumstances, i.e. they behave exceptionally illoyal, try to hold the club to ransom and so on.

Riyad Mahrez is a particularly "fine" example, Joe Mattock also. Fofana also went on strike, didn't he?

I don't remember the exact circumstances when Savage left but wasn't he also one who had displayed his huge love for the club and then went off in a flash as soon as we got relegated? And he did his usual wind-up thing when he came back to Leicester with other clubs IIRC.

I also don't like players such as Chilwell who have been with Leicester from about 13 all the way to a professional career and then leave and behave disrespectfully. They should be more graceful when they (apparently!) score against Leicester City! It's about respect and grace - that I do expect!

Other than that, most players come and go - and they don't always get treated fairly by clubs and fans alike!

The thing is we're not the 'boyhood club' of many players here there's nothing to show loyalty too, coming here is just another job/stepping stone to the players but a lot of people expect them to feel like us fans do

Peter Shilton went on strike for a move but is still remembered well here. Players sometimes have to force a club's hand otherwise like Harry Kane they end up staying put. Not saying I agree with the tactic but I can understand it.

I'm not familiar with Peter Shilton's case but I'd say things were very much different before the Bosman rule. Players have far more power these days, and contracts are no longer worth the paper they're written on when a player decides they want to move elsewhere and stink the place out to achieve this.

Kane is at Tottenham because he has chosen to be. He has had several contract points to move on but has chosen not to. To most fans if a home grown does that it shows great loyalty.

He really wants to win a trophy with Spurs so kept listening to the bullshit spouted by Levy and kept signing an extension, at good money of course which helps.

Even he thinks now this is totally beyond him and the club. I expect he will finally leave this summer.

I could be wrong but didn’t the club sell Stearman because he was one of our very few saleable assets at the time?

Surely a player’s not to blame in that situation?

Kane wants out 100%. Let’s see Levy slap a £140m fee on a striker who turns 30 in July. This could get dirty
