When does the new season start

I am not bored.
I am not missing the crushing weekend ruining disappointment a defeat at Plymouth on a Friday evening brings.
I am enjoying all the other teams sweating it out in the play-offs and grateful we avoided that nightmare scenario.

I am now less sure with the recent results of the past 2-3 months that we would have survived in the play offs. I could imaging having to score even a 1-0 win playing the second leg at home and failing to even hit the target. That last game drained most of my enthusiasm for next season unfortunately.

We got promoted as champions why on earth are you getting upset about what we may or may not have done in the playoffs.
How we played in a dead rubber match has nothing to do with how we will perform next season with a very different team.

Jeez man! Can’t you just embrace the moment and enjoy the fact we were promoted, at the first time of asking, as Champions and were clear of Dirty Leeds by 7 points?! Yeah, yeah, agreed it’s a shit league and all that, but every other team, bar Ipswich, would kill to have been promoted (without the threat of points deduction obviously).

KP, We secured the league as championship champions by a single point after being miles ahead. You must admit on here and even on FT after that match the general feeling was of a great let down which typifies our lack of consistency and what we will need in the Premiership to survive. If it wasn't for the other teams fucking up it could be us playing tomorrow. With the finances as they are, an embargo ? Points deduction? and having to sell some of our better players to balance the books and a manager who is not sure if he wants to stay, the outlook is not looking too rosy at the moment. Sorry, that is just how I feel.

I don't disagree with many of your points Algar but, for the moment, I'm not looking too far into the imponderable future. I'm simply quite happy (flawed season in many ways that it was) to have gained promotion. I'll start worrying about all the other 'ifs', 'buts' and 'maybes' when they come to pass.

We had 97 points and were deservedly champions. Not sure how ‘other teams fucking it up’ applies, what if the teams that came below Reading when they got 106 points hadn’t ‘fucked it up’?
There won’t be an embargo, that’s already been agreed.
The points deduction won’t be that big.
May only sell KDH and may perhaps replace him with someone with two feet who can pass the ball.
Haven’t you had doubts about Enzo? As a premier club we would have good managers lining up for a job with us .

If I wasn’t happy after a season like this, when the naysayers thought we’d get relegated, I’d probably pack it in, spending the time and money I do following the team would seem a waste.
Hopefully you’ll feel more positive about it closer to next season.

Hackney I do admire your prospective views on the coming season, did you buy your blue tinted spectacles on Amazon, I probably need to get some stronger ones 😄 . Hopefully I will come around more as the start of the season approaches.

We won’t get a bigger deduction than Everton or Notts F, don’t start believing claims by some of 10 points, Everton will only get 9 if they cynically go into administration next week rather than next season.
I wear two pairs and swallow Kev’s happy pills by the handful, it’s the only way not to get dragged down by the miserable buggers on here.
Go up as champions and hardly a word about it just thread after thread moaning about the owner/manger/dof/players/training ground/£25.

I’ve got this Reading supporting workmate who’s been going on about how we came up nine points short of their record, despite having the strongest Championship...blah blah. So when he went for a run yesterday lunchtime I put his shoes in the office microwave for nine minutes, followed by his shirt and tie. I then torched his car, and his garage and his house. He’s not said a thing since about our ‘measly’ ninety seven points, except to wish us the best of luck in the Prem.
