I would give him a new, sensible contract. He looked fine defensively at Bournemouth and is very integral to how Enzo plays. Whether he wants to stay is another matter.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he returned to Southampton if they bomb in the playoffs
 
It's all Enzos fault. He walked up to the player, laid his hand on his head and said unto him, Vesty, throw away all your walking aids, stand up and walk. With that miracle, he did and now just waits for the hands on head blessing with the run command.

You don't need to have pace to be a solid defender in the premier. Take Maguire, Tarkowski and Evans to name but three. Vestergaard has been playing in the premier and internationally for a long time so he knows what he can't and what he can do. Why do people concentrate on players what they can't do, rather what they can .

Maguire ridiculed week in week and had the captaincy striped from him.

Tarkowski has never played in the top half of the EPL and spend almost whole seasons battling relegation.

Evans was a busted flush 3 years ago.

If that's your evidence and mitigation then Jannick won't be wanting you as his brief.
 
Thiago Silva? Regarding Tarkowski isn't that what we going to be doing next season battling near the bottom. Experience and reading the game as a defender is as important as pace.
 
i watched the car crash that is kim the cb for bayern v real. how that boke plays at a top club is beyond me, he's worse than vesty. i expect him to be signing for us next year.
 
If we go into the Prem with Vesty still the defensive lynchpin we will be mullered regularly. We won't be allowed to stand with ball under foot for any time at all and the oppo press will be quick and hard.

If anyone saw the Liverpool press on Spuds yesterday you’ll see what we’ll be up against. We’ll be cannon fodder. He just cannot be allowed near the team. Just watch how easily Jackson got past him in the cup match at Chelsea. He didn’t even have to get out of second gear

You do realise he's spent most of his career in the premier League and have been up against pace before. We need some experienced heads and next season.

If you're so convinced he has what it takes to cope in the premier League, then please explain how Jackson and his mates were able to expose him so easily , and explain why you think it will be different next season?

The fact is he is an average championship defender, with above average ability to pick a pass.
That won't be good enough next year, as we saw in his previous 2 seasons with us in the PL, and we saw in his displays against us for saints.

Because against Bournemouth he was superb. Our season won't be defined against the likes of Chelsea. It will be against the likes of Bournemouth, Wolves, Brentford.
