So we need JV9 to stay, but he's on £140K per week.
Susan, Why not give him £50k pw plus massive incentives if we stay up, also you could add, win anything, qualify for Europe etc but that's hyperthetical in reality.
As long as we stay up, give him £50K per goal= £750K=£15K pw assuming 15 goals. other incentives such as league position could be added to reward success.
This method would show both parties that they are committed to each other.

Question is can we really afford to give a 37 year old a new contract.

So who else is going to score the goals for us in the PL? Not the ones we currently have that's for sure. We are not exactly in a position to sign anyone else are we except those on a free transfer, which Vardy effectively is.

Can't see anything here that I disagree with buddy. We need him here, so called experts have been saying he's finished for the last 3 or 4 years and still he proves them wrong. His very presence has more impact than some of our other so called strikers do in 90 minutes. Not included rock on Tommy in that as he's not had a long enough opportunity to prove himself yet, I would like to see him and Jamie as a strike option.

This can work for both parties but realistically we cannot go into the premier relying on JV as much we would love see him it has to be on the right conditions that everyone can live with.
The rest of the Strikers aren’t up to premier league period maybe Cannon can be one of the back ups.

We’ve tried but we csnnnot find anyone anywhere near his level. What,p’s more concerning is we can’t find anyone to learn from him, to try and become the next Vardy. Hopefully Cannon is learning what he can.

For this reason we need to keep him.

Hes got at least one more season in him, this "hes not what he was" is bollocks, I've not seen him slow down, lack commitment or not drive the team on.

Age is jut a number, when he shows that hes not the best striker at the club then drop him, but not until !

Cannon and Alves are the future, but if it ain't bust, don't fix it !!!

A lot of thought would have to be put into the terms of the contract for sure, cus a goal incentive wouldn’t cut it for vardy himself, due to him coming back with the “ how many minutes will I get though?“ line.
After all, a third rate sprinter was ahead of Vardy in the “managers” pecking order for a very large chunk of the season.

That's the problem we are trying to get players to be the next Vardy. It's not going to happen as JV is one of a kind. To find anyone near his level will cost huge amounts of money.

He just needs the team to work to bis strengths. The last three games, since the imfamous players meeting, they have. I really believe that player power got us over the line. Maybe Enzo’s “Sheff Utd” moment?
