Time to ditch Scmeichel

Theres a simple rule with goalkeepers and l care not what anyone else says. The goalkeeper goes for all the crosses in the six yard box, the reason being is that he as a 18 inch advantage on everyone else and he must use this advantage.

18 inch is the length of his arms above his head by the way.

Okay bnet so we politely ask the attackers and defenders to move out of the way do we
Just because the ball is in the six yard box does not mean the keeper can actually reach it

Now you are being stupid G did you watch the Wolves and Watford matches their keepers commanded their area under pressure but still caught crosses.by being alert and moving quick to cut out danger

I'm not saying he should never come for crosses just that it is sometimes not advisable
If you can't be 100% sure of getting there then stay home

Goalkeepers can knock forwards out of the way and this being allowed, you use it - 18 inch advantage and not using it is a crime !

Exactly my point Kasper knows when to come and when to stay
The arguement is he doesn't know. he dithered the other night when the header went in, he came out then backtracked and it cost us, he rarely leaves his line for crosses .......as a keeper he should sense danger, most good keepers anticipate danger and deal with it his old man did
it to a T

Peter Shilton was not very tall for a keeper either but I never remember much panic in the defense during his time.
Shilton was the best goalkeeper in the world, in my opinion he was even better than Banks at his best. Shilton worked on everything, l used to watch him as a kid at Belvoir drive, he. was always last of the training ground. He also work on muscle strength so he couldn't be pushed off the ball.
I think Kasper is a top goalkeeper but instead of improving on his weakness, he as adopted play around it which puts responsibility that should be his, onto his defence. I think. in life its your weakness's that you have to concentrate on not your strengths as you are already good in them parts.

A team improves by replacing the weakest of your players, this should also be the way personally.

Neither were the attackers.
Maradona was only 5'6 and Shilton bucked that job up by not executing the decision properly

Exactly if you're not a tall keeper it's not advisable to keep coming for the ball. Especially with size of players these days.

Maradonna used the extra 18 inch, which Shilton didn't expect and should have been disallowed, he certainly never fucked it up, unless total cheating is allowed.

Thanks Bnet, someone else who thinks Shilton 68-74 was the best keeper in the world - it may have been schoolboy hero worship by me but he was sensationally good, week in week out. Neither Cross nor Sjoberg was particularly tall, they didn't need to be, Shilton commanded his area superbly

The point is Shilton is six inches taller and had he done the job properly and got to the ball in time Maradona could not have punched it
Moral of the story if you aren't sure you'll get there stay home
Thank you for proving my point

I could keep on about this till the cows come home but I won't a striker as they are known now no matter how tall it's about his jumping ability some have it some haven't as for keepers it's about his awareness of a scenario as is his positioning for events before him some have quick reflexes some not so quick
Alertness of mind is another,
But to put faith in defenders in your 6yard area is criminal in my book

I've not proved your point though. Doesn't matter how tall you are if you jump up and hand ball it how is the goalkeeper every, it what universe, suppose to anticipate that.

He didn't have to, it should have been chalked off, so you play and set your play up within the laws of the game and expect the las to be withheld if someone breaks them.

Shilton didn't know he was going to handle it he should have cleaned man and ball out fairly

Always thought Shilton was slightly better than Banks, both lot better than Kasper.

and there you go again.

Rodgers says there's nothing wrong, well fuck off Rodgers if you can't see what's wrong because you are not a good manager.
