There is not a hope in hell that either

Maddison or Tielemans saw their futures at Spurs and Villa, repsectively, this time last year.

As it goes I think they'll probably do alright there, Postecoglu will either make or he'll literally break Maddison with his demands on players, and Emery isn't the 'Fawltey Towers' waiter the media portrayed when he was at Arsenal.

Agree on all that. Neither are getting CL football for at least another 12 months, and fair to bet already only one will have a chance of it the following season.

Trouble is for both of them neither are guaranteed a start and even when they do I'm not sure they'll be able to keep it

Tielemans' performances deteriorated significantly in the past 18 months, so not surprising he has not progressed to a CL club. Will be interesting to see what Emery can get out of him.

Maddison however played well for us over the last 2 seasons in a struggling side. I think Newcastle would have been a big step up (can see them being CL regulars), but perhaps Spurs is in fact his level - time will tell

I can see Tottenham getting worse. Everyone raves about their new manager but what has he really achieved?
What has he achieved you ask?
He won the treble in the greatest league in the world
They had to overcome world class opposition such as Ross County, Motherwell, St Mirren, Kilmarnock etc.
Stevie G had success and looked what happened to him at Villa
Let's just say the jury is out on the new Spuds manager

you could put a dog called fido in charge at celtic and they'd still win the league.
