The Great Illusion

Lingers Long On Cank Street
There was a very influential book by that title, published in 1909, which argued that because the consequences of a major conflict would be so disastrous economically, a Great War could never break out. Well, a similar Great Illusion settled upon our Club at the back end of last season. Even that growing minority, close to a majority, maybe, who by then had seen through Rodgers, thought it inconceivable that those in charge of our club would keep on running the risk of financial disaster that relegation could bring. Events have shown that that assessment was wrong. As before in history, the leadership of our club kept on sleepwalking right up to, and seemingly over, the cliff edge.

That book made me buy that God-awful single by Imagination

Reminds me of the lines from the film "the usual suspects" when at the end kevin spacey says " the greatest illusion the devil ever did was make the world believe he didn't exist "
