Today wasn't good enough, not even close, we all know that. The fact that the players showed no desire, courage, fight or nous today tells us all we need to know about this side. We're massively in the shit, and it's plain to see that these players are incredibly unlikely to get us out of it. Anything we get now is a bonus.
The reaction of the paying fans in the ground today is understandable, and we're entitled to voice our opinion.
It was very telling that at the final whistle, an example was set by a 20 year old kid who only signed in January. All the others absolutely shit themselves, whilst he walked round to applaud the fans. Hopefully we can keep him around the place for a bit longer.
The players and coaches are unable to get out of the Rodgers mindset, and we will ultimately suffer because of it.
We all knew Rodgers needed to go, but unfortunately, it has been left too late. Frustratingly, he leaves with his reputation largely intact, by taking a cut in his pay-off and leaving under 'mutual consent', and also by the statement saying he feels he would have kept us up, he can't lose. If we stay up, it's his team anyway, if we go down, he'll say we should have stuck with him. Like all the best conmen, he's very confident, and very clever.
Which brings us to the board.....
They've left it too late, believing Rodgers' bullshite that if we keep doing what we were doing it will all be fine.
They've then been forced to take action, because it got as bad as it has, but with no contingency plan in place which is (nearly) as bad as sticking with Brenda.
We have signed players to massive contracts that either aren't good enough (Soumare, Bertrand, Veestegard), or are nearing the end of their careers (Vardy), whilst letting other valuable assets eun contracts down thus reducing their financial value to us in sell-ons (Tielemans/Maddison).
If it's Coach Jesse that comes in, the theory is that he knows the 'RB' model of running a club, (buying young talent, developing, and then selling on at a profit). if thats the case, then we need a new CEO and DoF as a bare minimum, because their track record since Vichai has been frankly woeful. And I think for me, thats one of the hardest pills to swallow. The legacy of the man that delivered the impossible dream is being pissed up the wall. We had a golden ticket and they've sent it up in flames. A brand new, world class training ground and a proposed stadium expansion sounds great, but somewhere along the way, it seems to have been forgotten that we need to win a few games of football along the way, or else it's all for nought.
I genuinely wonder wether Khun Top is considering selling up now he's cleared the debts to King Power.
I'm resigned to us going down now, even though there's still mathematical hope, because I've seen nothing in the last week that suggests we have it in us to gain (m)any more points.
If we go down, I think it will be an utter disaster. Don't be fooled by Burnley, they've made it look exceptionally easy, and it isn't.
Whatever happens, I'll still be there when I can, because it's my team, and I really wouldn't have it any other way. I just hope that whatever league we're in next season, I'll be watching a team that I can be proud of.

Spot on 👏👏👏👏

I agree with most of this...but on relegation I'm staying positive.
If Jesse comes in hopefully he'll want his players and offload a lot of crap (ward amartey etc) plus a few talented youth players to try out.
Getting the wage bill down will help funding too.

Hopefully so!
I just hope we learn, and try to bring players in on sensible wages (mostly because we won't have a choice).

Excellent post. It’s the wasted opportunity & mismanagement at the highest level that hurts the most.

Well said SheffieldFox. I think your most important part you mentioned was that of Top. I think the guy is probably in denial about a lot of things in life, including the death of his beloved father and the fact that he’s trusted the biggest people at the club 100%, Whelen Rudkin and Rodgers. They’ve certainly let him down IMO and by not getting rid of Rodgers in particular back in late September and again in late January has now cost us.
I think it’s such a shame all round and I’m dreading to an extent the usual media circus’s headlines about how just 7 years after the greatest triumph in modern world football our club are now a bit of a laughing stock. Very very sad

Great post Sheffield Fox to start this thread 👍
The points you made are spot on and it really does highlight our fall from grace and if we do go down like you said dont be fooled by the easy way Burnley have got back up you only have to look down the road from them to see Blackburn the comparisons between us and them is starting to look very similar and they are still struggling to get back!
What we witnessed today was two stand in coaches still playing Brendan Ball,I cant remember watching such a passive/ spineless team its just not acceptable simple as that!
We are the only team in this League that doesn't do the dark arts we're just too nice and so easy to play against
The fans turned up today but sadly the team didnt and if it hadnt have been for Iverson it could have been 3/4 nil!!
Rodgers has had far too much influence on this club and as a result he is responsible for this casual behaviour/style of play that needs coaching out of the players
The decisions to rest ! Soutter was bizzare and to play Soumare was nothing short of criminal ( he is a modern day Junior Lewis!)
If its Marsch that comes in lets hope he has the spine to kick a few up the arse, get us fit and play on the front foot and while he is at it have a feckin plan B.
Surely we cant stoop any lower than we did today it was a woeful performance in such an important game
Like Sheffield fox said whatever league we will be in next season I/we will be there its the Leicester City roller coaster🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽👍👍👍🏻

Theres a person involved who most won't know of, he's here as Tops adviser, so I'd say hes the one in between Whelens, Rudkin etc and Top. What l hear about him, and this is from someone who knows him and all the family of our owners, hes proper up his own arse and a bit of a prick. Peter McCormack is his name. I've tried to get info off him previously but he's very very protective of Top.

For me it’s just the total lack of fight and passion, it’s like the team have accepted their fate.

Whether that’s down to some players knowing they won’t be here next season, some who have a reduction in wages due to relegation, I don’t understand why they’re not doing more in matches.

During the pandemic I lost my job, but I battled like hell to stay in it, so I could provide for my family. When the writing was on the wall I went out there and found myself a new one and 200 applications later I got one. Footballers don’t have this worry, they know someone, somewhere will pick them up, but why the hell don’t they show more fight to support their current workplace.

I lay some of the blame with Top, but not all of it. He has clearly misplaced his trust in his board, the people he needs to run his football business. Vichai was ruthless, he would have made changes sooner, but Top is not his Father. He is the son of a hugely successful businessman, trying to find his own way in the world without his Dad. Whelan and Rudkin are his eyes on the club. His relationship with Rodgers was clearly a strong one, perhaps similar to a Father and Son replacement.
He just couldn’t see when enough was enough.
If just one of the consecutive fifth placed finished had been a fourth, things may have been different, we’d certainly have been more financially secure, but given our record of signing rubbish, we may have done this on a grander scale.

For the rest of the season, I just want to see some passion in those wearing the shirt, maybe we’ll get to see Tielemans and Maddison in the same team for one last hurrah.

You have to put the spotlight on the hierarchy those who purportedly had business acumen they have failed businesslike neither mind footballwise
Top is nieve has had the wool pulled over his eyes.
Now football BR should have been hauled over the coals for those 5th finishes alone,
But his influence grew because of those two seasons which have had a dramatic effect on the team and its outlook twoseason inthe European Cup should have propelled on.
Vichai's demise should not be looked upon
as catalyst for where we stand today.
Rudkin should have seen many times that Rodgers was an egomaniac in a footballing sense intransigent, never wrong, he should have sacked Rodgers for publicly demeaning players, never mind for his woeful tactical senses, but sadly hadn't the balls for it.
When we go down there isn't a shred of
evidence we can bounce straight back usually takes us about eight years

I feel sorry for the support as l have seen us work from the bottom and had my time in the Sun but all evidence points to a struggle on and off the field in the future
