Unfortunately we have to go through some curtailment of liberties. There will be stuff we can't do for quite a while now.

It's a shame that Boris didn't try the circuit break for two weeks, as he was advised to weeks ago. Not saying I agreed with that either, but we would be in a far better state now.

My personal view is protect the vulnerable. Not enforced protection, just advice for their own sakes. Spend loads of cash on large amounts of intensive care bedding and staffing. Which would be far cheaper than shutting down swathes of the economy. Let everyone else carry on as before.

This is not about the health of the people, has not been for a very long time.

If it were, why would the government;

Release large numbers of clearly ill and untested elderly people back into the care homes. This started in February and March and is responsible for a large proportion of deaths and serious illnesses in the 'first wave'.

Encourage doctors and others to include 'covid19' on death certificates whatever the actual cause of death.

Not advise the use of vitamins and other supplements that are known to boost the immune system.

Suppress all reports of the effectiveness of HCQ+ treatments, and deliberately make it 'unavailable'.

Try to continue the lockdown through the summer months when sunshine, fresh air and exposure to the low levels of the virus at that time would have boosted peoples immune systems.

Promotion of the 'second wave' theory to force a new lockdown. Huge numbers of false positives being generated by unreliable mass testing is the justification, the general increase in hospitalisations that happen at this time of the year is being promoted as the truth of this scenario.

Covid19 is a normal 'winter virus' with a nasty sideline is respiratory tract infections. Like all such viruses it mostly affects the old and the infirm. Will some people of working age have a serious reaction to it, yes they will, but most will not.

Some nominally fit people will die, tragic though that is they are unusual 'outriders' and cruel as it sounds, statistically insignificant.

What is even crueler is the use of the phrase 'if it saves one life'.

Andrew Johnson is asking for every record of every person who has deceased in the UK, where a description of how SARS-COV-2 was isolated exists. The response was PHE can confirm it does not hold information in the way suggested by your request.

This has then been used to make outlandish claims. Does the requester actually expect this information to be recorded and even if it was; to be provided? They have even provided a link to explain that the probability to culture a virus is as low as 6% only 10 days after onset of the disease.

Interesting SS but are you sure that's the request that Bnet's post refers to? The post references DHSC whereas the FOI request is to PHE. It's possible of course that someone has confused the two but I wonder if there is another similar request?

The last lockdown was a complete failure more died than before it, people have the right to live how they choose if some want to lock themselves in their homes thats fine but the rest of us want real freedom.

More people would have died without the lockdown.
People who are high risk aren't really choosing to lock themsekves in their homes, they have to due to those who continue to with their 'real freedom' to not wear a mask, use shops and public transport then meet up with their mates for parties.
