Seagrave

The company I work for is building some of the extension to the Spuds Training Centre in Waltham Cross. I went there yesterday for a pre-contract meeting. Apparently much of Seagrave was modelled on the THTC facilities. Palatial doesn’t do it justice. Acres of outdoor pitches, massive indoor training pitches, the lot. Loads of coaches, groundsmen and gardeners milling around. Apparently the players don’t park their cars - staff take the keys, park the cars and all cars are valeted every day. They have a mini golf course, a fishing pond and even their own vegetable and herb gardens. I suspect that our players won’t be as pampered next season and many of the Seagrave staff will sadly, for them, have to be released.

It’s quite astonishing to what level modern footballers in the PL have got to. You can see the gradual drop off at Leicester from the moment we went to Seagrave. I’m assuming all these clubs must employ psychologists to work out to what level the ‘pampering’ goes and if it’s convivial to producing that extra 2-3% on the pitch. No bloody wonder the likes of Vestergaard don’t want to leave. £60k/week for going in for a nice meal, a bit of a run around in training, massage, gym and home.
The old boys like the Birch must think they’ve really been short changed. Whilst he wasn’t the greatest player, he’d have picked up £60-70k/week easily on todays wages. Poor bloke is happy that the chef makes him a little takeaway each day for his microwaved tea.
There are huge parts of the modern game I truly detest. Watching the EL Final last night was a great example of how pathetically low the standards of modern football have become. Literally every player going down holding their head/face at the faintest touch trying to con the ref, their colleagues in the face of the ref with no respect for him, and then the ‘injured’ player after being checked by the doctor for concussion is then up and away when they realise the con hasn’t worked and no card given.
The money for me is totally out of touch with reality. The likes of Micah Richard’s (whooooo!) spending over £30k/year on haircuts!! The fact that a top chef in Manchester gave up his restaurant and now looks after just 10 players from both clubs and prepares them dinner a few times a week earning 4 times what he did before. The guy in N.London whose soul business is ‘wrapping’ cars of PL players at £15k a pop earning himself a small fortune. ( good on him).
They then get upset at us, the fans when we boo them, not having a clue at the time and expense we’ve spent going to each game. Going on their social media saying how sorry they are and how much it hurts. Pathetic.

Rant over ( as you can probably work out I’m still bloody angry we’ve gone down in the circumstances we have)

Training on the cinders on Filbo Car park ..those were the days

Did a lot of work for there back in the dayThe company I work for is building some of the extension to the Spuds Training Centre in Waltham Cross. I went there yesterday for a pre-contract meeting. Did a lot of work there, when I made the staircases for main reception and players entrance I stamped them lcfc1 and lcfc2. Whilst fitting steelwork on the green roof to take aircon I signed the roof space above indoor pitch, think mum still has some sedum growing in her rockery?
