It's superb, but not unsurprising at all, that the immediate next-door neighbours of Ukraine are stepping up to help out and offer a safe haven.
As the Ukraine Ambassador to the UK said last week on more than one occasion (not that the BBC chose to give it much coverage of course), most Ukrainian want to stay close to home so they can return as soon as is feasible. He also said that what the Ukraine wanted was for us to continue to build on the excellent longstanding support that we have been providing. He wanted more anti-tank weapons (we have been supplying these with training for a long time) - apparently the Ukrainians find these very effective. They cost £20,000 each and we provide them for free but they are easy to use and seem to be knocking our lots of Russian armoured vehicles.
The Ambassador did state that it would be helpful if we provided financial support to countries like Poland so that they can continue to provide safe haven for the displaced. I fully support this as do the majority of the UK population.
Overall, I believe that we should listen to what the Ukrainians want and provide it if we can. So, if they want more NLAW's, i say send them. If the Poles or Moldovans need financial assistance in the immediate short & medium term they I say send them the money. However, if they want a NFZ then I'm afraid that we cannot go that far.
It is sad & pathetic that there are many people in this Country who, rather than giving credit to the Government for the support that we have and continue to provide Ukraine, seek out minor failings for political purposes. Wrapping yourself in mock concern for Ukrainians as a means of having a pop at the Government is pretty poor in my view.
As the war is likely to continue for a long time I fully support allowing Ukrainians to move here if that's what they want. I sure that some will take up the opportunity. Equally I expect that many will return home at the earliest opportunity. After all they are genuine refugees not economic migrants who are seeking to abuse our hospitality.
You know for a fact they're all economic migrants abusing our hospitality?Indeed it does give me a 'warm glow'

Strawman argumentYou know for a fact they're all economic migrants abusing our hospitality?
Well seeing as you brought it up you're probably right.Strawman argument
Is that the best that you can do?Well seeing as you brought it up you're probably right.
I’m hearing that Ireland have taken in some 1’800 refugees from Ukraine. If that is the case your argument don’t hold water. If they want to stay near their homeland who are the 1’800?Indeed it does give me a 'warm glow'

It is not a virtue competition
You have chosen to find a picture of refugees that are all men, there are plenty that aren't all men.Is that the best that you can do?
Plenty? Really? You have chosen to find a picture of refugees that are all men, there are plenty that aren't all men.
Ukrainian men of a fighting age are forbidden to leave, you seem to have forgot to mention that.
You should be congratulating her on a job well doneHeard a Tory MP on LBC absolutely slamming the “dysfunctional and chaotic” Home Office .
Patel is a disaster .
Ah bless, no-one commented on your other thread so you thought you'd use picture again. You do know some indigenous people demand houses and claim benefits they aren't entitled to?Plenty? Really?
You are correct that they are forbidden to leave - although I doubt that many would have chosen to even if the could. Meanwhile, I read that over 65,000 Ukrainians have returned voluntarily.
Yes I doAh bless, no-one commented on your other thread so you thought you'd use picture again. You do know some indigenous people demand houses and claim benefits they aren't entitled to?
If I was totally delusional and hadn’t got a clue what was happening maybe .You should be congratulating her on a job well done
So why highlight one particular type?Yes I do
And?
she is doing an amazing jobIf I was totally delusional and hadn’t got a clue what was happening maybe .
So you arrive at Calais having fled Ukraine having been told you can join family in the U.k. .
You are then told to go to Paris or Brussels to the embassy for your visa and to book an appointment
There are no appointments .
Meanwhile you are asked what’s happening in the HoC and clearly haven’t got a clue so you lie .
Pen4 - great job Priti
One particular type of what exactly? So why highlight one particular type?
What it the alternative other than risking human life and breaking international and maritime Law ?she is doing an amazing job
She has the Border Force taxi service in the Channel working very smoothly. They are managing to get the alleged 'Asylum Seekers' must beloved by you from the sea to the Four Star hotels in less than an hour. They don't even get their Nike trainers or Apple phones wet. A stunning effort I am sure you will agree. The best bit is once they get in she doesn't send them back even when they commit serious crimes. A fantastic effort on Ms Patel's part. I'm surprised that you aren't overjoyed
As for the issues at Calais - as I said the other day - they should be applying from the region - as I understand it all the extra resource has been sent there to deal with this issue. But then she has a useless Civil Service doing the job and they are generally all cunts
I will agree that it is odd they Border Force are so keen to check papers when generally they let any fucker in if they arrive by dinghy.
Ah - BrexitWhat it the alternative other than risking human life and breaking international and maritime Law ?
The Law may be an ass. But until she stops pandering to Sun readers and actually comes up with a proper agreement with the French to replace the one ( admittedly also flawed ) you voted to get rid of ,illegal immigration will continue to soar
