Profit and Sustainability

Although l know nothing about it what fascinates me is why the FL started this crusade.
Like everything else the Big Boys laugh at
the League from all sides with the rest of clubs in their pockets to as they wish without interference.
I may be wrong l think l'm not but this 2015/16 season upset the applecart so much and let's face it did some damage to hierarchy no-one ever thought the big 5/6
would ever be challenged in there own back yard.

The money issues have challenged the big 6
To spend greater amounts after the investments by institutions from around the world, which l think has led to the financial rules to be brought in but in doing so as left
A ever widening gap between the haves and have not this surely is wrong but then again l don't know much in the money world but Buzz might inform me

I remember one of the FIFA officials saying we do not want another Leicester situation. Its bread and circus to us to keep us from seeing what they are doing on the World stage, but its all about money to them.

We are in this mess because we spent millions on total dross and handed out very large contracts to Championship standard players.

The summer we decided not to sell anyone, the failed CL attempts and the summer of Daka, Soumare & Vestegaard has totally screwed us on and off the pitch.

But hay, he comes from Zambia 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I still think it was as much a case of buying players despite not being able to sell anyone though they clearly hoped that a couple of additions would strengthen the squad (ha!) & be the difference in making the CL. I don't recall there being a lot of interest in many of them (most of the valuable playing assets were crocked for the windows anyway), even the Tielemans stuff that summer felt like nothing more than idle newspaper speculation and of course by that point we were already effectively all-in on Rodgers. But, yes, a terrible summer & a season that followed that has indeed screwed us.

Won't those fees be spread over 4-5 years to reduce the losses, with opportunity to recoup some of the funds as they will both get sold this summer I would expect?
Yes but even if it works out at £3m-£6m a year for the pair in amortisation plus £3m-£4m in wages it would be hard to argue that the decision doesn't now look very poor. In fact even without the financial consideration it isn't look great! A gamble that didn't pay off. I assume we will at least have got a loan fee for Kristiansen as well as getting some or all of his wages off the books and I expect we will not sell him for a loss.

I have heard from a good sauce(sic) that Rudkin is making Mr Loophole his first signing of the summer when the transfer window opens.
Also, if the Trees get relegated and somehow we get promoted, he is putting in 7 days notice of approach for Clattenburg to show us devious ways how not to concede late goals.

We are in this mess because we risked it all trying to mix it with the big boys and we failed. Even if we got champions League, we still wouldn't been able to spend much.

Not disagreeing on if the buys were good decisions, just the financials could be worse if not for the them signing long contracts.

That summer we could have got a handsome fee for Tielemans. He did little since that Wembley winner so that was exactly the time to sell him, with two years left on his contract.

Sounds like the EFL and the EPL want to punish us one way or another and we have just walked straight into the trap. The buck stops with the owners as they appoint departmental managers to run their respective areas. So Top has failed to to keep abreast of the situation and allowed managers to run the club incorrectly. The buck has to stop with him, if he can be bothered.

Certainly looks like club management has been asleep over the last 3 years. Top should be firing someone over this farago. Despite the cup win there has been mismanagement on something of a grand scale.

Of all the P&S rumblings going on with a number of clubs, it looks like the so called Big clubs are smelling of roses. Or do they have better accountants and solicitors than we do.
