It's 1969 era btwNever ever tire of looking at such pics. You’re like Merlin Micky, conjuring up the ghosts of our youth.
Two games that stand out from that season was Liverpool FA Cup 42,002, me and my dad have always said that the 2 was me and him and Sunderland and Ally Brown, the noise was ear splittingThat first relegation season you witness never leaves you. Especially one like that one.
One of them is broken and I've boarded up one of them on Grasmere StreetShouldn't some of those back bedroom windows be broken Mickey? I'm sure I witnessed it happening in the DD.
Your attention to detail is applauded sir.One of them is broken and I've boarded up one of them on Grasmere Street
We could only get in the Mainstand for Sunderland, it was chaos, every time we got within 10 yards ofa turnstile, bang!! the door would shut. We somehow got into the Mainstand with Dad doing a bit of a deal up with the gateman. Both of those games stood out, Micky. I was in the Kop for the Liverpool game, and my feet kept losing contact with the floor. I was in the Popular Side for Viva, because I got there late. The noise for Ally’s second was like Seville at home almost fifty years later.
Grasmere St was the name of the now Burnmoor Street, The council changed in in 1972Remind me again where Grasmere St was in those days, Mickey.
Because these days Grasmere St runs across Jarrom St and ends at the little park just before the F-Bar on the left.
Then cross Walnut St and you join Burnmoor St. And that runs past the Popular side.
So how is Grasmere St near the old ground?
This may have been discussed before.
1972 when all the road layout was changed. For a while after the change the street signs said BURNMOOR STREET with in smaller letters (FORMALLY GRASMERE STREET)Did Grasmere Street become Burnmoor Street? When was that?
I still walk down Grasmere Street on the way from the Secret Boozer to the ground and then passed the Turnstile (or whatever it's called now).
