Soyuncu, Evans and Amartey are all out of contract this summer and the club is desperate to offload Vestergaard. So we could well be looking at four centre halves leaving at the same time. That's a hell of recruiting challenge right there even before we get onto replacing the other 10+ players who will be leaving.

I do hope we recruit a central defender with some pace as frankly the prospect of Souttar and Faes being our first choice pairing makes me feel a little nervous.

Faes in particular has to be reigned in a little regarding his marauding runs forward.

When he did that I screamed at the telly, "What are you DOING? GET BACK!" This was unfortunate as I was holding a seven-month-old baby at the time and it woke him up.

He needs to find the balance.

I welcome the change under smith for our CBs to suddenly move forward at pace with the ball, breaking the lines. I find it infinitely preferable to Brendan ball sideways passing between themselves probing.
But clearly he has to learn when to offload, before over doing it.
