Newcastle thread

They would have been even happier had we lost and anyone that thinks we wouldn’t have got hammered had we gone at them in the first half is having themselves on. We’d have let in an early goal and collapsed like we have regularly done.

I agree and I said it was the correct thing to do but only until mid way through the second half.
No point in leaving it as late as we did to try and snatch a result. If they wanted to keep it tight until after the 85th minute, then there didn't seem any point in bringing Madders on at half time.
He had no influence on our game until Smith decided to change the system, albeit too late in the match.
I doubt very much people will reflect on this being a good result come Sunday evening.
The bookies still have us at 1/5 for relegation which says enough about our survival chances.

It’s not a good result or a bad result. The bad results were Brighton, Villa, Everton (all home) and Leeds away.

They are the bad results, the ones that’ll define our season.

Do you mean because he scored yesterday. It now doesn’t matter. Even if they’d have lost we’d still have to win and they get a draw or worse.
Not true LG. Without that 99th minute goal if Everton lose on Sunday a draw for us against West Ham would have been good enough. (as long as Leeds don’t win obviously)

Every team can point to an event or events over the season . You are where you are after 38 games played
We have won four games at home from 18 played , the Trees after taken 30 points at home this season
The season started badly last August when we played Brentford on a boiling hot day Thomas Frank made
five substitutions our joker made one attempting to prove a point
Yesterday another joker celebrated the fact we had kept a clean sheet but the fate of the club was no longer
in his hands
This period has lasted nine months and from the beginning to the end the biggest losers will be the fans
They will turn up next season but I just hope the people presiding over this fiasco move on 😀

Strange selection of games to use as an example.
I would of thought Southampton home and away, Bournemouth home and away.
Brighton have been good this season so have Villa. Everton were fighting for their lives and Leeds away is never an easy one.

We got a point against a top four side away and kept a clean sheet which we haven't done recently. I don't care we played 8 defenders, needs must.
We also got a point away at Stoke who won the league, but we were still relegated to League 1.
