MOTM

And that's not being starry eyed Lukaku MOTM you gest of course, I only hope this lad stays here because his influence on a game is brilliant, he was everywhere on the pitch collecting and delivering and that long range pass to Lukaku in that last 10 mins was out of this world

But looking at the headlines they think it was Grealish, who didn’t score and ended up on the losing side, oh the wonderful blinkered British press. They will drop him for the next game and have another turgid defensive midfielder in his place, Grealish is the only player sparkling for England at the minute, get Southgate out and Big Nige in... 😳

For my money Tielemans was much more effective than Grealish. Tielemans endlessly recycled the ball forward, keeping Belgium in motion, and on the offensive. Grealish meanwhile reminds me of that annoying twat in the playground that hogs the ball and can’t be dispossessed, and who only passes when they can’t be arsed to run anymore. By which time it goes to a player that has stopped dead.

I thought that was De Bruyne

Uggggh! Got that taste of puke in my mouth after reading the bits of press reporting on Girlishs’ (thanks SBU) contribution.
I drifted in and out of watching the game with the sound turned off. Every time I looked, it seemed either Grealish was running round and round in circles only to disappear up his own jacksie, Kane losing possesion yet again, or Youri calmly bring the ball out, laying it off, or stroking a defence splitting pass to his team-mates.
Love the analogy with Grealish and the annoying twat in the playground - the sooner he learns to pass, that‘s when he’ll become the player the myopic press seem to think he already is.

I do agree with that but there were times where he didn't really have anyone available in front of him to pass to.

When YT signed, I was a bit concerned we had overpaid (like it's my money :):)) especially when he wasn't playing so well but to put things into perspective, his next European club game, hopefully against Braga in 10 days, will be his 50th (fiftieth). Not bad for a 23 year old. Happy am I :D:cool:;)

He got himself in better physical shape. He looked outpaced at the start of last season when we bought him. Just wasn't mobile enough. His fitness is up tenfold and with it has come his confidence. As said above he's recycling the ball much quicker, he's physically stronger too and able to hold players off. Some of his final passing could improve but that could be said of Maddison and Barnes too - either way he's a positive force in our team these days.

I hope (if the rumour is true) that we are looking to extend his stay and improve his contract, this season especially I think he has been outstanding and oozing class in midfield (y)

To be fair to Grealish he was the only England player who looked a threat and Kane was having to play in midfield and on the wing to have any chance of having the ball it seems Southgate went to the same coaching school as Puel picking a team of mainly defenders and defensive midfielders.

One "trick" pony. Takes the ball out to the left wing, stands there, then rolls it to some team mate four yards away... Over and over again.
