Is Armageddon approaching ?

Some good posts in Nagerz thread regarding how people on here feel about the state of the game.
I can feel the sense of despair and disillusionment in those posts .

Where is football heading ?

With more and more clubs either picking up sanctions or being firmly restricted, then surely it needs all non BCC's to come together and fight this gross stitch up as one.
How ridiculous is it that the clubs can have very wealthy owners, yet by design will not be able to utilise their money ?
This rank injustice of denying clubs a fair chance to compete at the top should be deemed unlawful.
If nothing is done then the game below the BCC's is going to sink into oblivion.
Wealthy owners at clubs like Newcastle, Villa, Everton, West Ham etc didn't take their clubs over to be scrapping over mid table positions and a rare chance to play in the minor European football competition.
There was an interesting article in the Mercury today about the situation and how the BCC's manipulated the distribution of TV money heavily in their favour, by threatening other clubs with joining the ' Super League ' if we didn't accept their demands.

That brings me to the question.

Would you be happier if the BCC's fucked off and the running of league was returned more to how it used to be ?

Or

Do you accept that we have to bow to the restrictions imposed on us because the game would be nothing without the BCC's ?

If they want out fucking leave. But don’t come back.
This is the issue though. A closed shop European Super League (which is what they tried to establish) is clearly incompatible with continued participation in domestic competition. But they didn't want to stop playing domestic football - their fans would never allow that. So they assumed they could do both and seemed taken aback when told very firmly that they couldn't. I can't see them ever giving up domestic football so I don't think a closed shop league to replace the Champions League is remotely plausible.

For quite a while now I have wanted the BCCs to go off and form their own sterile European (or Global) superleague. But, as Clapham points out, they won't, certainly the English clubs, because the domestic league is too important to the domestic fans.

But, it's amazing how easily one can become detached as fan, faced by all this FFP nonsense, and the apparently random (in terms of value, and timing) application of penalty points, or the threat of them.

We are moving to Nortumberland(about half an hour out side Newcastle)City will allways be my team......But when we get there i'm watching Amble Town!Just a bit pissed off with football now, what we did will never be done again and it's a closed shop for the BCC'S to win everything infinitum....i know i should wash my mouth out,but i hope cov win the cup.

I was totally unaware the amount of losses decreased to around 60mil for promoted clubs for FFP. Just what is the point in that?! It seems this has been voted through to keep the EPL as much of a closed shop as possible!

£83m for those who were in the EFL for 1 season, £61m for those who were there longer (i.e. in any 3 year cycle, 2 in the EFL is the most that can be covered). The argument being I suppose that promoted clubs who have been operating under stricter controls shouldn't then be allowed to accumulate huge losses in the first season (which you could argue would consequently give them an unfair advantage on promotion... the rule makers would also argue that if clubs did get that sort of loss on a first season it would impact their sustainability). When you consider typical EFL wages & transfer fees, that Forest managed to break it by £34m on their PSR calculation in their first season back really was some achievement, on a par with a previously successful EPL club torpedoing itself with some staggeringly bad decisions.

Note also that this is one area where the EPL and EFL have alignment so it works both ways, i.e. in the EFL you lose £22m from the threshold for each of the 3 years in the EFL (the maximum losses for clubs going down are £83m, £61m and then for clubs who have not spent a year or more in the PL in any 3 years £39m). Obviously if other EFL clubs get their wish and remove parachute payments & the thresholds are still in place then you really would see more of a closed shop.

Cheers Clapham. Coronation isn't one of them actually as it's a bit out of the way for me on this trip, it being more in Clifton (and it's a cider house rather than a good ale selection).
Stokes Croft area, just north of the centre, this afternoon/evening:
The Green Man, Highbury Vaults, Kingsdown Vaults, Cotham Porter Stores, Hillgrove Porter Stores, Hare on the Hill.
South of centre tomorrow afternoon:
Lime Kiln, Three Tuns, Bag of Nails (it's ok, I like cats, before anyone comments), BBF tap.
More central tomorrow evening:
Gryphon, Bank Tavern, Left handed giant, Seven Stars, Bridge Inn, Cornubia, Little Martha, Barley Mow.

Not touching King Street. Not keen on the Moor tap.
I'm sure there's several other omissions that readers (WigstonFox 😉) may point out. But I think 18 is enough 🍺. Shame about the couple of hours at Ashton Gate really 🦊.

Wigston/Santiago - I'll be in Wagon on my return Saturday about 6pm.

The Big Clubs are getting what they wanted via the revised Champions League farce. What with the "coefficient" joke they are going to be assured of playing each other every year, raking in the extra cash and still compete in the PL with the deck stacked for them via the profitability rules. They don't need a breakaway league when UEFA has facilitated exactly that with the revised CL structure

I presume you are donating your body to medical science? In a helpful pre-pickled state that is!

Enjoy me duck! 👍

Cheers mon canard.
Sunday will be day of rest to recharge vital organs for Monday.
Maybe see you? (running low on pills).
Short pre-match, but lengthy post-match, session. 🐗

After that lot do you mean in the Wagon or on it🤔😳

In 20 years there will be a closed shop Euro Super League .. but my guess is that the 6 English clubs involved will also play in the FA Cup to give a sort of fig leaf of giving a shit. Wouldn’t even be surprised if there are multiple divisions of the Euro league so that the likes of Newcastle, Villa and West Ham get some of the gravy.
Unfortunately means that the club’s continuing to play in domestic football (almost certainly including LCFC) will not be able to pay 10% of the wages and will not be able to hold onto any half decent players.

Wasn't it fan power of the BCC's that stopped it in the first place ?
If memory serves me their own fans voiced vociferous opposition to the Super League.

The non BCC clubs in the PL should vote in a increased distribution scheme and if the BCCs threaten to go to a ESL then just say ok go ahead but no entry in competitions involving League clubs or the national side and no rehiring of players who have played for their clubs. The quality of the domestic scene would go down and TV would lose some interest but the excitement would still be there for the fans who don't want to watch BCCs all the time.
