Why would anyone state that someone is "discredited" or "debunked" when it clearly is not true.

You can't argue with liars unless they are face to face, and the twats on here would never do that, ever !

I sincerely hope I never have the misfortune to meet you face to face .
One of the only silver linings of the pandemic is it is less likely I will do so, as it could be a year or two until you are allowed back to football or on an aeroplane .

No one should be coerced, can you not see that this is the way its going. Lets have restrictions on people for 6 months or a year maybe until its over. Who says or decides its over? Has there ever been a goverment in history who has taken freedom off people and given it back? These are the questions that should be being asked future generations will judge us on this, as it stands at present it looks like they will be seriously be let down.

I would imagine that during WW2 there were many laws introduced that impinged on civil liberties. As far as I know none of these are still in existence but stand to be corrected of course

Dont know with out looking, however I dont think this is on the same level as 120000 alone killed in bomber command let alone the numbers killed in the field to preseve our freedoms. I know that people were not told to stay in thier homes and our garnparents where not locked in care homes some confused wondering where their loved ones are, all because the people who run this country have no empathy, common decency or morals

Rationing , blackouts ?
Incidentally 55000 were killed in bomber command of 120000 casualties .
For me there is a parallel in doing something for the common good .
Sacrificing some of our freedoms and supporting our front line is part of a war against a virus which has killed more than the Blitz .
 
World War Two was 'old school', an existentialist threat to our way of life, physically beat us into submission and turn the UK into a hardline tyranny, effectively a slave state.

2020 Covid is 'new school', an existential threat to our way of life, socially and digitally beat us into submission and turn the UK into a hardline tyranny, effectively a slave state.

Just a point of view of course, in reality it might be much worse than that.

Ok my wrong on bomber command confused the 120000 that served a 50% chop rate though. I dont get how you think the common good is served by a parallel of telling people what to do. This is not on the same level of the war yet you advocate putting everyones freedom and choice to the fire. Do you think the people who are running this have any empathy or at least some shame in their actions over the last 12 months?

I suspect most of our current government are incapable of such normal human emotions . They handled it appallingly for 9 months . The vaccine has saved them and hopefully our society .
It is no coincidence we are emerging blinking into the light as 60%% of the population are now vaccinated
For me it is a public duty to get vaccinated and for certain events and international travel it is inevitable you will have to prove you aren’t likely to spread the virus for the next 9 months at least .

To be factually accurate, about 126,000 airmen flew operationally for Bomber Command, around 55,000 of them died.

Churchill made the decision, quite early in the war, to minimise casualties within the British forces by using technology instead of men to fight the war. He believed, despite his 'we will fight them on the beaches' rhetoric that the British people could not take casualties on the scale of the Great War so did his best to prevent that.

A 'normal' nights work for Bomber Command put around 4,000 aircrew into combat, less than half the fighting strength of an infantry division of that time. Churchill was successful in preserving British (and commonwealth) lives, something he gets little credit for.

In those days our servicemen could join up and fight against something tangible, a force intent on the destruction of the country. Today our country is at even greater risk of destruction, but most simply do not see that.
