Everton deducted 10 points

Bet they win an appeal.

Imagine if every club disadvantaged by Everton over the previous 3 seasons sued. Primarily us, but all those relegated over the period, or who ended a place lower in the table due to Everton taking points off them. Will get very messy.

The chair of the commission, David Phillips KC, also referenced applications for financial compensation from current Premier League clubs Burnley and Nottingham Forest and last season's relegated sides, Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton.
Phillips said he was "satisfied that the applicant clubs have potential claims for compensation" - but noted the commission holds no "inherent jurisdiction" and it is instead "the role of the Premier League to bring and prosecute complaints"

That’s that then

We follow the rules and get relegated, Everton break the rules and retain the much valued Premiership status by the slimmest margin and are handed a sanction that means they probably retain that status. Dyche is starting to get a tune out of them and Luton, Sheff U and Burnley are pretty terrible. My Lords, Dame Justice lies bleeding in the Goodison mud.
Interesting that a senior lawyer with no need to comment about compo chose to do so, in encouraging terms .....

sad thing is that it is such a poor league this season that they will probably stay up.
That’s exactly why it’s been carefully considered, deliberated, and ultimately decided…..that 10 points deduction will not relegate them. Their performances have been studied and the powers that be are quite confident that they will overcome the 10 point setback. Not 12….. that was a little too risky, but 10.
It stinks….

Here is the problem with retrospective FFP over a period of years.

One of the dumbass mitigating arguments put forward for the loss was Everton's poor league position last year and the year before meaning they 'missed out' on more PL finishing position money (no shit sherlock).

Now imagine they stayed in the league due to financial irregularity, but the teams relegated all suffer FFP breaches due to their lack of money for being in a lower division for one or more seasons. How does that play out?

Maybe as well as a pts deduction they have to pay a fine to relegated clubs as well?

This is an independent commission with the PL v Everton as the prosecution and defendant. The commission found in favor of the PL over and over again on excuses brought by Everton, so hopefully this will not be overturned.

They have picked on Everton as a reasonably easy target, Man City have been cheating for years and so have Chelski.
The Man City case has rumbled on for years with no repercussions for the club, let’s not upset the Arabs and the Russkis/Yanks they own most of the country and we need the money.

There is a lot still to come out in the wash. This case has been going on for years, with Everton dreaming up increasingly implausible reasons aimed at reducing their level of overspending. Earlier this year the PL had had enough and told the Commission handling the case that they wanted a decision by the end of last season. The Commission said no, it would have to wait. Had they agreed the points deduction would have meant they went down and we stayed up.
I still blame Maddison, though.

They've cheated, They've been found to have been cheating by the powers that be, it stinks , smells worse than a grimsby trawler that's not been emptied after a double shift at sea! But I blame TCR for downing tools and not bothering to get a tune out of a Premier league team. As much as it may suit our( the clubs) narrative to blame them or prem/ rule makers it is important to remember that with a bit less " happy clapping" on the side lines or a bit more decisive management from upon high we'd prob not be in this position.

My heart bleeds for them . .Yeh.....the rags are all over it... Everton say its unjust penalty......
Fuck em ...... but my heart tells me that ONE MAN alone is the culprit for our demise and you know who and fuck him to.

The Man City case is more complex because they’re denying everything, whereas Everton admitted it. I still think Man City will face a punitive relegation at some point.

Lot of the papers are saying unjust and unfair
Andy Dunn says do the fans of Leeds and Leicester really care that Everton stayed up.
Completely forgetting that most clubs look at their expenditure when trying to get players in.
The only thing that galls me is that there is not a sliding scale for clubs annual income
That's were the Prem is so devisive, that's why the Billy Big boys can get away with so much.
