Enzo ball summed up

wints

Roofer
in four passes. 1-0 down, 87 mins on the clock , we have a goal kick.
Vestergaard to Hermansen 1 yard sideways
Hermansen to Vestergaard 1 yard forward
Vestergaard to Hermansen
Hermansen to Vestergaaard
We are still in our own penalty area FFS

But, should we blame Enzo for this approach, or the players for not recognising the urgency of the moment and the need for a different approach?

In a one horse race.
It was never going to be a one horse race due to amount of games and teams having good and bad patches. Even though were 14 points ckear. Fully expected us to have a wobble and other teams having great runs. There is a reason why people say championship is one of the most exciting leagues going.

You are Maresca and I claim my reward

How is it summed up by judging one passage of play with only 8 minutes left please?

Three one on one chances being missed in the previous 87 minutes says what? anything or nothing?

Go on my son

It's his dogmatic approach. We MUST build our approach play by passing the ball backwards and sideways, even one yard passes that result merely in a pass back to the same player irrespective of the success of this, irrespective of the urgency of the situation, irrespective of our players ability to do it properly, irrespective of whether it moves the team forward. Just keep doing the same over and over and over.

Fair enough

Don't agree with everything that you have written but I respect that fact that you have crafted something beyond the the normal knee-jerk shit I see on here.

I don't see Enzo as dogmatic in the style of play that he is pursuing. I have increasing problems wiith his unwillingness to make changes early enough to potentially make a difference

I wasn't expecting us to be anywhere near the top that's why I put a bet on us getting relegated. So being near the top I'll take.

The only conclusions can be
A they don’t give a fuck
B they’re not fit
C they’re fucking thick
D they’re frit of baldy

I'd go with B, C and D.

With regard to B, fitness, we had exactly the same last season. Slow tippy tappy walking football means players slow down. There's nothing in the legs when you need a burst of energy, when you need to put a shift in and and break sweat you can't. It's like running on empty, and you get found out. That's us now as it was then.

Still can't quite stop watching though can you (live or on a stream?)
Why should people stop watching the team they've supported for years, or for whom they've shelled out for a ticket, just because there's a cunt in charge and a useless bunch of cunts in the team?

Re: Fitness. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the squad's fitness relative to the requirements of the game was, under the previous incumbent, the worst I have seen in my entire football watching life. Ok, we got rid of loads and bought a few in but the core were here from last season and they were just incredibly unfit. Maresca got them doing a lot of fitness work in the summer but it should be no surprise that given that low starting point and the short summer (late finish to 2022/23 & early start to this season plus of course a manager only starting in July) it has not been enough to address it.

I think Maresca recognised this early hence the passages of slow tippy tappy football which has been as much about conserving energy as retaining the ball (Maresca made it clear that the first 15 minutes against Liverpool pre-season which was anything but slow is his style), what he has gotten wrong is underestimating how unfit they were and are and consequently our ability to go long in games and raise the pace is severely compromised. And of course it means those bursts of energy in game become fewer and less intense as the season progresses.
