England and Chilwell

And he's off again.
Bet this latest pile of bollocks looks really pretty to him....
There was a reason he went for big money. You could when he was with us that he would go to the top. One thing I do miss is him and Ricardo bombing down the flanks.

One of the least likely phrases for anyone sane to ever come out with about City: "Chilwell bombing down the wing". FFS.

Ben Chilwell (3/10):

Failed to take his opportunity. Looked off the pace from the outset, while his final ball when attacking was abysmal. Replaced midway through the second half

The whole game was instantly forgettable. It didn’t fill me with any confidence we’re going to have a strong summer.

Let’s see what Tuesday brings.

He sadly typifies what’s wrong in football. IMO an average to good player but not even in the top 20 defenders in the PL. Happy to sit on the bench, do the odd England cameo and milk the system. It’s not his fault but £10 MILLION per year for years. He should go on Strickly. Those 180° turns would give him a massive advantage on the others

I have been watching City for some 60 + years. The best Left Backs I have seen would include Christian Fuchs, pretty near the top, then Denis Rofe, David Nish (not a natural LB but such a classy player) and maybe one or two others I am too old to remember but not Ben Chilwell. I never thought he deserved a place in the team at the expense of Fuchs and made so many defensive mistakes including against Villa in the League Cup semi and Chelsea in the FA Cup R6. Good riddance to him. Just glad we got a good fee for him.

Couldn’t agree more. Fuchs no.1 for me. Nish was one of those players who could play FB, DM and general midfield. Didn't he play LB at Derby.? Rofe was superb. I’d even put Callum Davidson above Chilwell

Ritchie Norman you oldies???
Pretty good but not as good as the others I mentioned. I have bad memories of him being skinned by Mike Summerbee in a cup game in1966 which we were leading 2-0 at half time. Same thing happened 4 years earlier against a 47 year old Stanley Matthews. In those days they didn't double mark wingers and they could give full backs a torrid time.
