Elevens that have stuck in the mind

Glaring omissions with Sykes and Feldman. A gratuitous snub for Norman Collier. And not even a place on the bench for Ray Alan and Lord Charles?
Criminal!!!

Will Hay,Moore Marriott,Graham Moffatt,Margaret Rutherford,Charles Hawtrey,W.C.Fields,Thora Hird,Frank Randle,Norman Wisdom,Gerald Campion(Billy Bunter),Joyce Grenfell.

There is a memorial bench to Will Hay,Moore Marriott and Graham Moffatt(unveiled October 2018) in Cliddesden,Hampshire, the filming location for 'Buggleskelly' in Oh,Mr Porter!

Moore Marriott used to live in East Farndon. I used to come out of sessions in The Bell there, and mime huge chunks of ‘Hey Mr Pineapple’ outside his front gate.

I know it was a squad of 16 in all, including Peter Booth

Reminds of the time that I had the leading and pivotal role of Billy Bunter(all postal orders and sticky buns gratefully received) in my lower 4th form(Remove) school play "Bunter Takes Another Kicking" in 1967. At 4' 9",14 years old, bespectacled and 14 stone I was an absolute "shoe in" for the part. Although I was always quite puzzled as to why none of my classmates were ever in the slightest bit jealous. My 'Tuck Shop scenes' have ever since been written into 'Fatfriars School' folklore with the school motto "Yarooot,Yarooot" still to be loudly heard on the playing fields!

10 of that side played in almost every championship match in that great season. The 11th place rotated between Peter Booth, Jeff Tolchard, Graham Cross, with the young and cherubic looking Gower getting I think three games right at the end of the season. No test calls, a hot dry summer, four spinning all rounders, and a couple of veteran test quicks who really knew how to bowl on those wickets. Unbeatable, really
