Eddie Howe

I really dislike Klopp

His latest words of wisdom were to announce he’ll only pay his fine if it’s shown to be going to good causes. And that his touchline ban meant he was then able to view from a ‘much better position.. Like a smart arse kid that’s been told off but wants the last word.

Eddie Howe, on the other hand, always diplomatic

Seriously, Howe has done an excellent job at Newcastle. I like the way that they are building rather than spending ridiculous money ( ref Chelsea) and are steadily rising to the top.
Whether you have distain for their ownership or not they have approached it the right way.
No big time Charlie's but gradually progressing to a formidable team. Man City will have some serious competition within the next two or three years, and whilst I am jealous of their wealth I actually love the fact that they will put the noses out of those who think they are entitled.

I'd love to know what your definition of 'spending ridiculous money' is.
They've spent over 300 million in the last 2 seasons on players, and their most expensive was 25 mill more than Teilemans.

In the last year Newcastle are the 5th highest spenders, almost £400m less than Chelsea and even less than West Ham. Notts F are only just behind them.

How can you compare them with us ? They average 60% higher attendances every single home game .Their ownerships wealth puts Top well and truly in the shade. Given the funds available to them I'd say they have been fairly conservative so far.

my point is they haven't gotten into the top 4 by being frugal.
They've spent, and they've spent big.
The other PL clubs voted to tighten spending rules after the takeover, so it's very possible they are spending what they can, rather than staying well within themselves.
They're just another club that's bought their way into the top 4/5/6/7, which doesn't make eddie howe a worse manager, but neither does it make them tightwad upstarts rattling the PL hegemony.

Newcastle's most expensive signing is Isak who doesn't even make the top 20 most expensive signings. They could outspend anyone in the league including Man City but as yet they haven't.
Who in their team would you say was a truly world class acquisition ? Imo none of them.
West Ham and Forest spent within 1 to 2 million of what Newcastle spent in the last year.
Of course their resources will take them up the league but there are no guarantees.
Leeds 20 years ago tried and spent the best part of two decades trying to recover. Chelsea have spent a staggering £500 M+ this season and won't even finish in the top half.
Everton have thrown loads at it and for the 2nd consecutive season have flirted with relegation.
Man United have spent fortunes since Fergie retired but have struggled to justify their outlay.
You can be contrary all you like, but imo Howe has gelled a team, created team spirit, got the fans onside and thus far as done a better job than more illustrious names at other big clubs.
Considering what they are capable of doing I will stand by the fact they have been measured in their rise to the top. They haven't bought a single player yet who I thought ' wow'
Money is a huge factor in football but it still needs more than just deep pockets.

Losing back to back aways 5-2 and 6-2 to Brighton and Spurs. I was convinced then we would go down. The renaissance that happened after that clouded everyone's judgment. The writing was on the wall when we slumped at home to Fulham in the new year 1-0, and he should have gone when Southampton beat us 1-0.

We’re running super close to our limit for financial fair play, god knows how as we have a squad of absolute dross.

Everton, Forest, Leeds, West Ham, Villa, must also be pretty close to breaking the rules, some may already be non compliant.

Takes the piss.

There was no doubt when Howe came in that they had to firstly survive. By buying Wood from Burnley they effectively relegated them instead of Newcastle. They could afford to blow £25m. But their other buys since have been mostly excellent value. Burn for £13m Bruno £35m and Pope at £15m were particularly good. He’s then got the best out of Wilson and turned Joelinton into a decent footballer despite him being crap for the previous 3 years.
I think the only buy that I’d question is Gordon but let’s see. Howe and Tindell are the real deal.

Once again, everyone overlooks Dan Ashworth in the background. I bet he spent his entire gardening leave grafting away for Newcastle.....

1 - eddie how is a top coach regardless of how much money he's been given.
2 - since 2020/21 season Newcastle are the 6th biggest spenders in the league. They've spent more than Liverpool. Those two things combined are why the barcodes are in the top 4, not one or the other.
3 - if you look at balance of spending minus sales they're 4th worst at -341m euros.

top man plus loadsa money = top 4.

As an aside, the remarkable thing i just learned is that Leeds are the 7th biggest spenders and have the 7th worst balance sheet differential over the same period and they're going down. loadsa money with a crap coach = relegation.

Leeds have always been wank with the chequebook. That's why they almost went out of existence under Ridsdale. Despite the Champions League money they kept spending like it was a devine right. Wasn't it something like 3/4 million to maintain the fish tanks or summat?

Well you've said it.

6th biggest spenders and they are in the top 4.

Over achieved then haven't they based on budget.

Howe performed miracles at Bornmuff year after year. Everyone expected the Geordies to move him on after the takeover, they didn't and he's done an excellent job IMHO. They haven't gone berserk spending, as we know anyone can put 11 big signings on the pitch but it's different again to get them performing as a team week after week. There's good managers and good managers eh Brendan.

As you well know, that's because liVARpool, Spurs and Chelsea are gash this year.

Been through the Leagues with Bournemouth and isn't a one season wonder with no Plan B
Listens to other people.
Not got a whacking great mirror or a portrait in his front room either.
