I asked one of my regulars about them. He went to every gig they did, 13 or 14 in total.
They were an Oi band who lasted about 18 months. A group of lads who been in trouble and as a band attracted a following who were up for it. A few of their gigs ended in a ruck, my customer got a couple of proper kickings but said he probably deserved them. They took a coach to Hereford for a gig down there. The band and their fans got a bit lairy during their set and when they left there were a mob of locals waiting outside for them. Similar stories from Manchester, Oldham & the Nags Head and Star.
He reckons that their legend is greater than the truth. They were a group of lads in their early 20s, up for a laugh and not afraid to get involved if it kicked off. Didn't really go looking for it.
Their lead singer, Timo, is 60 (tomorrow?) and is performing at the Donkey tomorrow night with his band The Glory. Should be a good turnout.
