Census - Leicester now a

It's wrong anyway.
Leicester the city (360,000) is only a part of Leicester the conurbation (650,000).
Not that it matters...

Conurbation as a synonym for a metropolitan area. I live a sheltered life.

The 650,000

I never see anyone going round counting people and yet we're supposed to accept these numbers

No.
It's a Census, that relies on people filling in a form.
There could be more people that the count, but never less.

We would know if the estimate is wrong, at the next Census.
Don't worry too much about this estimation.
It won't have much impact on your life...

Unlike those lying cunts at EON, who estimated I'd use 17% more energy this year.
They've agreed that was wrong now.

I was distributing forms for the 2011 census. Spoke to a lovely bloke "I ain't fackin filling in that fackin fing. Ask them fackin illegals next door, there's 12 of them cants in there, I bet they won't fackin fill one in"

I said I'll put you down as a maybe. So it's probably not the most accurate of methods of getting all the data.

It can only be as complete as the number of forms filled in.
Some forms will contains lies (most likely lower than reality).
Only around 90% are completed at all.

So we know that our population must be at least whatever that 10% missing was, bigger...

Not really.
I've been searching the old censuses for family history.
Interesting stuff.
One day the 10% will have great-great-grandchildren, who will have no idea about their lazy and cantankerous ancestors.
