Brendanballs.....page 127

This is an extract from an article in today‘s Times (the rest of which discusses non TCR issues so I’ve not included them). This sounds very familiar:

”Whatever his justifiable frustrations with some of the players at his disposal, Rodgers is manifestly underperforming too. The champions have already dropped only three fewer points than in the whole of last season, when a clear and obvious style powered them to success under Ange Postecoglou. The tempo, relentlessness and ambition which defined the Australian’s approach has been replaced by an unattractive — and, more importantly, less successful — mis-mash of over elaborate build-up play, ponderous, lateral possession and negligible contributions from those out wide.

A general lack of urgency is making it far too easy for domestic teams to get set in their defensive shape, with Celtic then consistently lacking the guile to unpick the low block. Bar David Turnbull, few seem willing to mix it up by attempting a shot from distance either: so often, Celtic end up passing themselves to death.
Rodgers’ approach to selection has thrown up its own oddities. Fringe players pop up from nowhere and are
then dispatched back to the wilderness just as quickly. Take Gustaf Lagerbielke, one of three centre backs who arrived in the summer, but who has not made a Premiership match-day squad since the end of September. He came on and scored the winner in the Champions League clash with Feyenoord last midweek, but was then bombed out again for Hearts. Neither Maik Nawrocki nor Nat Phillips made the bench either, while in an utterly bizarre episode, Alexandro Bernabei (12 minutes since the start of September) was thrown on in left midfield for Palma as Celtic tried to retrieve the situation. Not nine minutes later, an actual winger — Forrest — was introduced in place of the left back, Greg Taylor. It all spoke to the confusion and lack of conviction which has characterised Rodgers Mk 2 up to now
.”

He was a decent coach some years ago, but he went downhill quickly from early 2021 and I thought at the time that by the end of the 2020-21 season we had won the Cup despite him being in charge, rather than because of it. Now a complete busted flush.

I think that Rodgers truly believes football to be an exact science, he seems the think its a strategy not a natural flowing form. With this believe, he knows he doesn't know what the perfect formula is, but he pretends to the world and himself that he does.

Notice when ask a question, he pretends to be in deep thought, and hes considered everything already instead of being a confused blag merchant.

I reckon hes searching for what he pretends to have already, so it's never him who's at fault, he thinks his players are incapable of understanding what he thinks the answers are. Hes so far down the wrong track that he will repeat the same fuck ups forever.

In short he's a twat.

Not only that he's a short twat....

“But either way, we needed to be better. It’s just a case of keeping patience, and I think that is where your experience comes in. I love working with this group because they are such an honest group of players. There is not an idiot amongst them"

Only one idiot Brendan....look in the mirror for a clue. How's the European dream going?

I think we have heard this line of reply before.

As everybody else says, his record speaks for itself.
he inherits a team and does well, then tries to put his own stamp on it and it goes downhill, but he blames everybody but himself.
Liverpool, Leicester, Celtic ...
But the footy writers love him for some reason.

Bloody hell. That replicates what we saw in the last 18-20 months almost exactly.
The only line that would have made it more precise would have if after the words ‘Celtic end up passing themselves to death’ the words ‘until they lose it’ were added.

Also it looks like he’s managed to completely destroy central defender Nat Phillips before chucking him back to Liverpool

"I needed his help. I needed him to give me opportunities and teach me tactically, and eventually he made me captain. For him to recognise the effort I had put in to be the player he wanted me to be, to acknowledge that I had grown in terms of my tactical awareness and to give me opportunities says a lot."

Henderson trying to get Rodgers help escaping from Saudi.....they speak the same language (bullshit)

I’ve just read that he replaced the Celtic pitch at a cost of £2m in 2016. It meant they couldn’t buy their no.1 target, someone called John McGinn for the same money from Hibs. Oh dear
Whoever signed off on that needed sacking along with Rodgers.

Page 128....but same notebook....

"I thought in the second half we were a little bit passive against the ball. The problem then is, when you’re not aggressive enough when you haven’t got it, they can break out which they did a few times which led to the goal."

and same old bollocks.
