He inherited a very good squad, which had diminished slightly results-wise because of an attempt to play patient possession football.
It didn't work when Ranieri tried it. It didn't work for Puel.
Rodgers did the right things to begin with. On the most basic level, just keep pressing the opposition.
It protects the defence and stimulates attack.
Then Rodgers tried to revert to the slow possession tactic, in an era where pressing counter-attack had taken hold.
