Bought this very recording on vinyl way back when. Saw/heard it performed at the Albert Hall too. That was quite something.

Music is a very broad church me old fruit and nut case, plenty of room for everybody's tastes.

To be serious for a moment (shume mishtake shurely) this is a hauntingly beautiful piece:

My daughters choir teacher and godmother was quite a prominent figure in local classical music circles. A lovely lady who beat cancer and organised a charity concert in a large venue with a huge choir, I have a CD somewhere. It was a great event with a wide range of choral arrangements. Bendictus stole the show, standing ovation, not a dry eye in the house. 2 years later, the lady died if leukaemia.
Playing that video has just had quite an affect on me. Thanks for posting Kpbw.

Not really a fan of classical music, but this is special -

My other half loves Einaudi so we went to see him at the Barbican a couple of years ago (I'd never heard of him until then). I like ambient type music (Philip Glass etc) but Einaudi sets my teeth on edge for some reason, feels soul-less somehow. I suspect also he is not actually a top class pianist.

You can look at music like you do with food & drink
Steak or Lobster may be your favourite, but you'd get sick of it if you had it every day
My original genre was classic rock of Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Free, etc and my mates were into the same
Then when I turned 16-17 and discovered girls, I became more romantic and soul & Tamla Motown resonated with me
Never listned to Classical music as a young man, but appreciated when i got into middle age, and main time i tune to classical station is on my drive home from a hard day at work / maybe stuck in motorway traffic, and find it the most relaxing / stress-relieving music to calm me down
