A Warrant Has Been Issued For My Arrest

For criminal conspiracy and tax fraud.
All I have to do to resolve this is ring these people back.
Imagine being an elderly vulnerable pensioner at home getting a phone message like that!
Hang on - I just have!!!!!

I imagine there's a lot of people who read the subject and maybe the first line and are nodding knowingly as I type.

I have had a couple of those recorded phone calls, got me worried at first. but I recently received a letter informing me I was due around £12 million from the Bank of china. I have never had an account there but it must be true? so dont worry soho when I get my money I will pay your Tax debts mate:cool:

I sometimes try to keep such people at arm's length, i.e. make them do something to waste their time. E.g. I send them E-Mails requesting ID or further information, make appointments I don't keep and so on.

My thinking is that the time and resources they waste on me they don't have for tricking more vulnerable people into something.

There are websites where people share their scambaiting activities, such as

We get these type of phone calls regularly.
"Amazon Prime" and "Sky broadband" are the two most common.

The AP one tells you that they have taken your MONTHLY payment of £79 and if you wish to cancel this to press such and such button and speak to one of their advisers.
The SB one tells you that someone is hacking into your broadband and again talk to an advisor.
The 1st time the Amazon one came, I spoke to one of their advisers and it soon became obvious that it was a scam.
For the next few weeks they continued to try the same tactic.
They then changed tack, and the next trick, was that I had ordered a pair of £150 trainers, and if I wished to cancel this order, to contact one of their advisers.
We got in contact with one of them nuisance call blockers, that was a waste of time, they still get through.

Im friends (apparently) with a Nigerian prince who wants my bank account details so he can transfer me 10 million Naira. (About £1.50)

I enjoy stringing the phone call scammers along for as long as I can, if I've nothing better to do when they call. All sorts of techniques... :)
I got one asian-sounding woman from "Microsoft" to tell me what colour pants she was wearing, but I then rather spoiled my heavy breathing by laughing at Mrs Filbo's hysterics across the room 😆

Was it a Manchester dial cose Soho, 0161? I've had 3 this week, all in different accents from around the globe.

No point in focussing on the number that shows up as the caller ID. They use software to disguise their actual number and leave a false trail.

Last week my mum got done with the spoof Amazon call. I spotted a suspicious activity on her email which, I monitor daily, and I called the bank to stop a transaction (transfer to Kenya) 2 days later the transfer still went through. I called the bank again to complain, and got an apology and an instant refund.

You rang the bank TWICE and got through TWICE?

Just checked with https://www.tpsonline.org.uk/register and I'm registered, still received
The same message as Soho
Numerous calls about accidents I'd been in, the last one said he's just make up the details and I'd get the money.
Buying gold
Buying diamonds.

Not behind on my taxes.
Haven't been in any (recent) accidents
Never bought gold or diamonds, and who fuck would buy diamonds over the phone?
Must be a few as they wouldn't bother otherwise.
Always feel sorry for the poor sod who's getting peanuts for making the call and generally being to do one.

The grammar makes me think it must be legit.
There's a reason for the poor grammar.
It's done on purpose as they reckon that those who don't pick up on poor grammar or bad spelling are more likely to fall for their scam.
It's their filter to weed out those who they'd be wasting their time on.

They also play a long game, those amusing posts you respond to about what your porn name would be, 'it's the name of your first pet plus ....' or 'It's your mothers maiden name plus .......'.
Guess where they all originate from?

That's daft though isn't it. If they used proper grammar like; then they would sting more people.

I'd never fall for that pet/maiden name con. Mine is Fluffy Cox; but I wouldn't tell a stranger. Only an idiot would do that.

Ah, so that explains the BBC's strategy... :D
