I have had a couple of those recorded phone calls, got me worried at first. but I recently received a letter informing me I was due around £12 million from the Bank of china. I have never had an account there but it must be true? so dont worry soho when I get my money I will pay your Tax debts mateFor criminal conspiracy and tax fraud.
All I have to do to resolve this is ring these people back.
Imagine being an elderly vulnerable pensioner at home getting a phone message like that!
Hang on - I just have!!!!!
You rang the bank TWICE and got through TWICE?No point in focussing on the number that shows up as the caller ID. They use software to disguise their actual number and leave a false trail.
Last week my mum got done with the spoof Amazon call. I spotted a suspicious activity on her email which, I monitor daily, and I called the bank to stop a transaction (transfer to Kenya) 2 days later the transfer still went through. I called the bank again to complain, and got an apology and an instant refund.
Just checked with https://www.tpsonline.org.uk/register and I'm registered, still receivedWe got in contact with one of them nuisance call blockers, that was a waste of time, they still get through.
that's what I thought. Just as well I responded. Easy. Just had to sign in, with passwords, bank account log ins, that sort of thing. The grammar makes me think it must be legit.
There's a reason for the poor grammar. The grammar makes me think it must be legit.
Ah, so that explains the BBC's strategy...There's a reason for the poor grammar.
It's done on purpose as they reckon that those who don't pick up on poor grammar or bad spelling are more likely to fall for their scam.
It's their filter to weed out those who they'd be wasting their time on.
