It’s what their case handlers say. What evidence do you have that that they are persecuted other than what they tell you?
In what way are the conditions 'rank'?

English is the second language of the world? YouThanks Tartan. That helps me to understand a bit more
I still don't understand what the attraction of the UK is, but maybe I don't realise how lucky I am to live here
To be fair Brauny Germany takes more than it’s fair share of migrants. There are plenty begging on the streets when I visit the same as here.I agree about safe routes. Nobody should be allowed to leave on a flimsy craft where there is mortal danger facing them.
That said we have given France money to help police their border and that money as been increased. As it stands I don't think the French are doing much to stop it, maybe because they don't want to......
And another question I ask is why do migrants want to pass through countries like Germany and France ? Those two nations are the top two in the EU. They are strong countries aren't they?
If Brexit is so bad, wouldn't the migrants be better off with asylum and living in those countries ? Surely within the EU they can provide migrants with a better life than Britain can ?
What makes them want to risk their lives when they could settle in a remainers utopian world ?
Should have come here - pick a hotel - many close to schoolsTo be fair Brauny Germany takes more than it’s fair share of migrants. There are plenty begging on the streets when I visit the same as here.
I can’t speak for France.
FFSOne reason they want to come here is because of our past. We spread our language around the globe.
There is an irony that the britain many wish we still were, is the reason many migrants want to come here.
The most concerning thing for me was Braverman saying he should not have commented as he was “out of step with the British people”Exactly this.
Probably best for the Tory govt not to use the same tactics & inflammatory language as was seen in 1930s Germany, for any comparisons to be made. Obviously strikes a nerve.
Haven't you got homework to do?The most concerning thing for me was Braverman saying he should not have commented as he was “out of step with the British people”
A. He’s not - at least not 50% of them
B. Are we no longer allowed a view that doesn’t agree with government policy ?
That’s the way the BBC has been going since Johnson’s pimp was made chairman . It’s a very dangerous premiss .
The final solution started with demonising minorities at a time of economic hardship . Words like invading hordes were just the start . If you don’t u set stand where this. A lead you don’t understand history . He was absolutely right and brave to say it .
The right wing shrills in the largely Tory dominated press trying to shut down his right to free speech reek of hypocrisy .

The UK is 17th in Europe for accepting refuges . - 17th .
It’s not immigrants that are responsible for the broken transport system , health service , education , economic breakdown and inequality .
It’s 13 years of the worst government in living memory . It’s so sad so many are stupid enough to fall for these desperate attempts to deflect us from the useless , corrupt bunch of charlatans driving the UK into the ground

The UK’s asylum grant rate at the initial decision stage was nearly three times that of France (72% compared with 25%) in 2021, a year during which 28,500 people came to the UK from France in boats. The UK grant rate is now a permissive outlier compared with most of Europe and, by September 2022, had risen by more than 40 percentage points since 2016, when just a third of applications were approved at first instance. In contrast, France’s grant rate fell from a third in 2016 to a quarter in 2021. The recent rise in the UK grant rate may be motivating a rising number of boat crossings from France. 94% of arrivals then claim asylum. A sensitive, internal Home Office study found that the decision to come here ‘may reflect an unsuccessful asylum application in France’ and secondary movement from Europe -including from Greece and Germany – is an increasingly important factor[1]. The Home Office research also noted that social networks and diaspora populations are likely to spur migrants to reach certain destinations. This suggests that if a claimant is rejected in one place, and another (adjacent) country has a higher grant rate then anecdotal information to this effect may spread via social / familial networks, helping to drive illegal immigration.
