VAR again

Watched MOTD and all this VAR fiasco
I assume the new phrase being used " no conclusive evidence so goal given" was dreamed up by Howard Webb ,they used it for Bowens Goal and Gordons goal does it mean they have no feckin idea what they are doing and used it as a cop out

Havertz and Guimares both should have seen Red according to the current letter of the law but neither was deemed as a " clear and obvious error !!

It wants feckin scrapping !!!

The Newcastle goal could only be disallowed by the push, a good old fashioned football phrase is play to the whistle.

i watched the sport section on BBC Breakfast and their headline was all about the controversies of VAR, that it’s too often non conclusive, that there are too many errors.

Is this the third season of it now? If they can’t get it right by now it needs to be scrapped.

It really is a joke. Many have said how great the game is in this league because it’s not ruled by decisions being referred.

It’s always annoying when a referee makes decisions wrong but he only sees with his own eyes. That a ref in a room with all those replays and technology available still gets decisions wrong is nothing short of a disgrace and is totally ruining our game.

Much as I hate VAR, the ball over the line was not a clear error by the ref, the offside by a pubic hair was not an error, the only thing was the push and I’m not sure but I do know the falling down and holding your face by Arsenal would influence my decision making if I was the ref.

Personally thought the havertz one was dealt correctly. He caught the Newcastle bloke with his trailing foot which never left the ground & then dished out multiple cards to Newcastle players for surrounding & badgering him for the next 30/40 seconds or so.
Guimares however was a cowards trick & 100% on purpose. Then to say that var had seen it & checked & then say there wasn’t anything wrong is as bizarre as it gets.

VAR is just "jobs for the boys"
Use it for offside decisions only.
What is the point of linespeople now if all they do is wave a flag for a throw in. Use a little AI robot either side or give officials some collective responsibility.
The fact that fans are denied a real time explanation in stadiums is farcical.
Webb is just adding layers of confusion. It's all spiralling totally out of control.

It’s actually the 5th season in the PL and remember we were the last major league to introduce it. I’m with you. Just scrap it. The problem IMO is that it’s an evolving mess spiralling slowly downwards year on year. One problem is solved only for another to happen

The simple reason it’ll never be sorted is because the same group of refs are both refereeing and doing VAR. Frightened to death of dobbing their mates in

Secondly they’re so worried about making a mistake that it’s taking longer and longer to make a decision. If that’s going to happen the ref, like rugby, should stop the clock. If it takes 4.24m to come to a decision then that’s what’s added on, not 3 and a bit mins or 4 and a bit etc.

Finally they need to see the game in reality. Is the attacker really getting an advantage by having his/her toenail ahead of a defender who might be 40yds away. It’s bonkers. Same with handball. If it’s pretty/totally deliberate then fine but this ‘is the upper arm/above the elbow/shirt sleeve crap’ is ridiculous. Forensically looking at decisions isn’t what this game is about even at the highest level. We had no VAR for 150 years and yes mistakes were made but overall it generally evened itself out.

Classic diagonal line drawn on at the shitty ground to check offside against Forest. Someone from here been drafted into Stockley Park?
