Our immediate aim is to get promoted back to the PL as soon as possible. Parker has achieved that twice in recent years. There is some logic in it, although I agree he would be an unimaginative choice.

I'm inclined to think it's not going to be Smith, unless other preferred target(s) aren't realised. At which point we'll panic and back he comes.
 
Lots of chat that it's going to be Scott Parker. Some would find this uninspiring, but I don't mind him. Got Fulham and Bournemouth back up, played some decent football too.

According to The Sun we have spoken to Gerrard, Parker and an Austrian called Adil Hutter as well as Maresca. Potter not interested apparently.
